Hey NM BAs, I am coming down to Santa Fe for the weekend at the end of february and would like a heads up on decent bottle shops near hotel st francis. We plan on stopping at rooftop pizza, and I want to get my dirty colorado mits on some elevated and project dank. Any help would be great.
    Prost!

Susan's fine wine and spirits is a wine, spirits, and beer shop in SF. Definitely worth seeking out. They have been known to have both elevated and dank (dank is released ~every 2 weeks, so planning out your trip or knowing when other releases happen should help. I haven't really seen it sell out locally in ABQ, so you should be okay in SF). Looking at directions, it's about 1.1 miles southwest on Cerrillos road. SF is not really known to have beer shops, so this is truly one of the only ones. Many places, including the draft station near rooftop pizza (they kicked out marble and decided to pimp out some of their own "breweries" is right next door). One could order and eat in the some locale. You will see a nice variety of NM breweries here. Many places in and around SF have local SF brewing beers on tap, as well as Marble and or La Cumbre.

I would personally recommend a short trip to Duel (Belgian style brewery), as well as Second Street Brewery (they are more established and near that of Santa Fe Brewings quality). Blue Corn wouldn't hurt either.. In reality, if you can hit the railyards and find 2nd street brewery, then take the short trek to the new Marble Taproom, and find some La Cumbre somewhere, you will be just fine for the day. Finding a favorite in SF is tough though. I would even recommend a trip to the main Santa Fe Brewing location , and enjoy some pints. When I'm in the area, it's a true toss up between EVERY brewery in town.

In the same vein, if you are there for just hours, Draft Station should provide some Chama River, Blue Corn, La Cumbre, Marble and other select NM brews. So you pretty much get the whole "core" package in one place.

I will check out susans for sure then. Beer is playing second fiddle on this trip though, we are planning on hitting up santuario de chimayo and taking in some museums. Just to bring back some good NM beers will be cool. Does chama bottle?

I believe they do not bottle.

Duel bottles but their brews can be hit or miss. Santa Fe has some ever changing beers releasing every once in awhile (Susan's made a mention of their white IPA selection). I don't know if they distribute in CO, but they are in at least 9 states now. Java Imperial stout is nice.. Happy Camper IPA seems like its hit or miss for fans. It's on the maltier side but more of a straight hop astringency (85 ba score). Worth a try....I'm a huge IPA nut so I would honestly stock the heck out of dank and elevated right off the bat. Their bottled/canned dates are in white sticker form on top of 4 packs and bombers. I would not hesitate to try their malpais stout (foreign dry stout), and their slice of hefen (hefeweizen) either. Both Ba scores above 90. Their Red Ryeot may even hit can form by the time you hit the NM area. It's a hoppy tropical fruit type of rye inducing red beer. Guaranteed above 87 in BA in a couple months time.

2nd street does can their pivotal IPA (although they do have mobile canning so the canned on date may vary). Solid IPA and a very rare offering, if that.

Since you did mention going up north a bit, hit up Kokoman.. Another beer store supplying the Los Alamos/Espanola area. Here you may find many beers that your own state sat on for 3-4 months. It's been known to sit on some stuff. Definitely worth a 5 minute detour. It's right off the highway near the casinos as you head north towards Espanola. I have been lucky to spot this place discounting cases of beer because of non sales. Technically expired but a malty oktoberfest doesnt truly expire until the next 6 months?

Just my two cents... I take every one of these steps as I hit the area, so I don't think I'm steering you too far off what a regular patron of the area would do. Best of luck

Susans is definitely your best bet for one stop shopping. Everything Oktoberfiesta said is right on.
