UK...so many great pubs. However, when I'm in the US, Belgium, Germany, etc, I find I'm always taking a little road trip to visit breweries. So, my question for the forum is what UK breweries would you say are road trip worthy? It could be because of the great location, great beers, great atmosphere, whatever. Looking forward to hearing what you think.

    I like the older ones.

so the likes of Hook Norton and Harveys both have wonderful victorian tower breweries - at one point I believe the waiting list for groups to go round Harveys stood at nine years long, although its down to a couple of years now and if you just turn up as a couple of people you can often get tacked onto a tour. Traquair is worth a visit for the rest of the house if not the brewery itself.

Most newer breweries here though have to be stuck in an industrial estate out of necessity, so even though they may make great beer and be great people, the brewery and location may lack something. More and more are adding tap rooms and so on, Hawkshead have a decent modern one, there's the Bermondsey beer mile in London if you can get to it early on a saturday, I think Manchester now has a good few close together that might be worth a trip round

I can't think of many places I'd go just for the brewery, I'd have to combine it with other things, but that might just be me
