Had that Ballast Point Saturday at a small tasting and it jumped to the top of my list. Haven't had Roadsmary's Baby this year, but it's always above average. I always get a taste of the "Other Baby" at Beervana every October.

What is with the negative comments about Two Roads? That's the first I've every heard them be dismissed as unworthy. I don't love all their beers, but they are certainly an above average brewery, and hell, they put out SoS, whether Lawson brews it or not.

Like I said, MAYBE it was a bad 12 pack but every beer was lack luster. The Ol Factory Pils was the only thing that was tolerable.

Just had roadsmarys baby and really liked it. I don't like everything Two Roads puts out, but thought this one was pretty good. Not sure about any barrel aging though...

Just had one at Vermont Oktoberfest tonight in Burlington. Spices still dominate overall style. Not a fan, but I keep trying...

I believe it is a blend of BA beer and non-BA beer.
It is not an uncommon opinion with the beer geeks, but in my opinion they're just being snobs. I think most of two roads beers are at least above average, if not good-very good. I disagree that their pils is "tolerable." Its one of my favorite pilsners next to Elm City. Not a fan of Route of all Evil or Road Jam though, but usually don't like black ales or fruit beers anyways.

This. Although my wife likes them so I end up trying a bunch of them a year. My favorite so far (least spicey) is Uinta's Punk'n. I guess I'll have to get her some Roadsmary's and see what the fuss is about. Which has the extra bonus of keeping it local!

Least spicy pumpkin beer I've had is that Ballast Point. It's quite different from most of them.

I enjoy it very much when I buy it in growlers or the pint directly from the brewery.
However I just bought a six pack and it tastes nothing like what I am used too. Harsher on the palate and more bitter.
The sweet vanilla and spice flavors are not there. The mild rum taste is also missing.

Maybe it was just a poorly stored six pack. But if I was to base my review on this sample , I would never buy again.

I think people just like to exaggerate, I highly doubt anyone actually thinks 2 Roads beers are bad but probably just mediocre. Personally I find them to be a completely average and forgettable brewery. From their beers I have had, every style they make, I can find some other breweries example that is better and priced the same. So while I wouldn't say any of their beers are bad, when compared to the sheer amount of great beer on shelves these days, they compare poorly in my opinion which I guess could be considered "hate".

depends on the beer. i've outright disliked a few (e.g. the DIPA), and thought a couple were decent (igor's dream), and i'm pretty sure i've thought one or two were above average. like i said before, i liked roadsmary's baby a lot on tap. somehow still haven't had the pils but i bet it's awesome; southampton keller pils is one of my favorite beers.

For what it's worth, which could be nothing, Roadsmary's just took second place in Paste magazine's pumpkin beer blind tasting. I was pretty surprised by that.

Eh Lawsons and the like are part of the problem imo. People see two roads contract brewing all these solid beers and wonder why most of the two roads beers are so comparatively underwhelming.

I've never had Rosemary's because I don't like pumpkin beers and yes I don't think their IPAs are very good. I've only had Igor's at Real Ale Fest and remember it being pretty good. Like I said I haven't had all their beers but their 2 best are their pils and saison IMO but I can still get better examples of those styles.
