I will not be too harsh on this one.... but I can't imagine that anyone is excited about this. Most people I know in and around Roanoke strongly dislike this beer, including craft beer enthusiasts and non-craft beer enthusiasts. I personally find it to be a poor example of craft beer and must say I am perplexed that its distribution expanding.

I actually find RR's (heh!) beers to be about as exciting as Devils' Backbone's, and we see what awards they've garnered lately. Judge not too harshly. This is one that's been struggling to get wind under it's wings since it started just a few years ago, and they've just recently lost their brewer to the newest player in the valley.

I agree about Devil's Backbone. Not a fan, but I at least consider some of their beers to be drinkable. And FYI, Roanoke Railhouse did not recently lose their brewer to Parkway. That happened quite some time ago, because the owner of RR (I see what ya mean lol) had...different goals. They are now on their 4th or 5th master brewer and the guy still can't take a hint. I heard a quote a while back and I believe it is applicable. "If you brew for kings, you will be a peasant, but if you brew for peasants, you will be a king." I think it is fairly obvious which path RR has chosen, but my issue is that the beer is simply not good. Not even to a "peasant" in my opinion....maybe the quality will improve with expanded distribution, but I seriously doubt that.

Roanoke Railhouse having some infection issues a year ago or so certainly hasnt helped their bland offerings...

After going to Virginia Tech and living in that area for awhile, I could not see how this move could be benficial to anyone. Their beers are mediocre at best, the brews are inconsistent batch to batch(This may have changed since I last had it over the summer), and just the tastes are off. I had some batches of the IPA that were stellar, and then some that hardly had flavors of an IPA at all. This brewery needs a revamp before anything successful can be turned out of it imo.
