Anybody been lately and see anything of interest? A friend is going up there this weekend and asked if I wanted anything. I haven't been in a long time so I don't really know what's available. I'm just looking for something that might not be readily available or harder to find in the area. Thanks
Yeah, nothing really of note that I've seen lately. The pumpkins have been coming and going mostly the past couple weeks, and usually pretty fast. I'm hoping maybe some of the Elysian Pumpkin product comes through soon, if at all.
I dont know if everyone else feels this way or not, but the Robinson MD has started to go downhill, ever since their beer manager Jim left. No one was ever able to give a definitive answer as to why this happened, but ever since then their selection has never been the same. They are definetly not getting the selection that they were getting before as far as limiteds and hard to finds go, and you can just get a sense when your their that their expertise in beer has changed.
Yeah, it does look a bit more "pedestrian" for a lack of a better word these days. Not as much interesting stuff comes in, just kind of what you expect as the seasons roll on. Still though, when they do get something worth purchasing in at least it's usually at a better price than most of the other stores in the area.
Was there on Friday (8/31) and was able to grab a 6er of troegs perpetual ipa that was bottled on 8/22. Other than that I didn't see anything too exciting.
Definetly still better on prices than most, but when it comes to that Im reminded that they still have last years xmas beers. Ommegang Seduction specificly. I know they tried to move these a couple months back doing a "xmas in July sale" but there still are bottles of this left. Just take the loss and move these things out and free up shelf space for new stuff. It almost feels like they dont know what they are doing. This was acceptable when they first started selling beer, that was like 3 years ago now. You cant really be successful when your taking steps backwards.
The Elysian Night Owl & Dark o' the Moon are definitely out now, if that's what you meant. If the Robinson MD isn't carrying them, maybe they won't be.
Yeah, that's what I'm aiming for. I only make it out to Robinson once every Wednesday (Comic Book Day, natch) so I have no clue if they have it or not. Someone said in another thread they showed up in one of the Route 8 GE's so I guess I'll have to do a call around and see which stores in the area may be carrying it.
