Coaching two baseball teams keeps me from going to many things, but I will be at the Cask Festival at Old Toad on Friday night!

This is THE beer fest for Rochester...
Everyone knows the early one is just a joke
The middle one pulls out all the stops
The oldest one still rocks I pour beer for that one.

    early one is the expo?
Any suggestions on the middle ones? Thinking of going to the nebco event and Tap and Mallet, Troegs at Lovin Cup, Extreme Beer Fest, and or Great Lakes meet the the brewer at Lovin Cup
    Oldest one the cask fest?

Roc City Beer fest in Jan is first / worst
    South Wedge fest is best
Rohrbachs is the oldest in Sept.

I think the Expo is a great event personally. Good beer, music and food. Yeah, the ticket price is a bit high, but it does help filter out people who may disrupt the fest anyways... If the weather stays clear it probably will be one of the best parties of summer in Rochester. I find it funny if anyone thinks the brewers list isn't that good. They have 5 brewers which have been in the market for about a year or less. Founders, NEBCO, Ballast Point, Captain Lawrence, Left Hand. It's especially fun to take people who are just getting into craft beer and exposing them to the awesomeness. Hope to see you all there!

That troegs to sounds like it might be one to stop by..

Also, I can promise you if you like cask beers, the Old Toad cask festival will not be one to miss this year. I believe they may have driven to out of market breweries for casks...

according to the Rochester Beer Expo Facebook page they pulled stone from the line up and are replacing it with Thornbridge. Kinda bummed about them scratching Espresso RIS.

Edit: it also looks like goose is missing from their original list of breweries.

They are god damn insane if they never brew that again. Hopefully they let Alex brew more IPAs then because that man is a master of hops.

Thanks for the heads up on the experiment X. I usually try to build up to the hoppy beers at fests but looks like I'll make an exception.

elysian space dust is very solid. The ithaca nut brown/habit blend cask looks interesting.

What are everyone else's must-trys from the list?

I couldn't get around to sample much since I was volunteering in tent 1. But I did get to try CB's Experiment X and it was fantastic. Founder's Double Trouble was real nice as was the (Brett) Farmhouse Ale from Smutty. Ommegang Fleur de Houblon - outstanding.
