Ha, have you always had the Avatar? If so this is definitely a red letter day for you!

Then today is one mighty fine day for you! Here's hoping that a stray case is just sitting in front of you at the store when it lands - such loyalty deserves a bit of luck!

It very well could be, but let's reserve judgement until the day of reckoning comes. Can Rudi Ghequire blend as well as his Rodenbach Alexander predecessor(s) - even if that was actually himself, years and years ago? I don't want to be the proverbial turd in the punchbowl, but I do have my doubts. I can't put aside the cynical notion that this is merely a Palm-backed cash grab.

Rodenbach Alexander is the natural predecessor to New Belgium's (still brilliant) La Folie, at least in my book. Can a Palm-owned Rodenbach live up to the reputation of this beer?

Maybe @jesskidden can call me out on where I'm bullshitting and offer some insight into the history here. All I know is I'm incredibly excited.

I'm going to look for this one. I really like Caractere Rouge!

Have some hope! Having never had the original, I am sure I won't know if it isn't quite as good (assuming I track some down!) but I bet it will still be mighty fine. Let go of your cynicism and bathe in the awesome nostalgia!

It would be fairer to say that Vintage is the predecessor to La Folie, since they are both aged sour red ales with no fruit. Alexander is what lead to Cherry Love Oscar.

It's strange that the press release says April 2016, but the sales sheet I got from Latis says Winter 2016.

edit: oddly enough, my rep just came in and informed me that Latis' own sell sheet was wrong, and it should be dropping in a month or so. :astonished:

Oh wow. That is one of those beers of legend. I will definitely seek this out.

I can think of at least half a dozen easier, cheaper ways to stage a cash grab.

I'd say the thing to prepare yourself for is the possibility that no beer could live up to the expectations/memories you built up in your mind since Alexander was discontinued the first time.

Caractere Rouge was phenomenal. Worth every dollar.

This might be the most amped I've ever been for a release.

That is a great price. In New York, it runs around 35ish. I stocked up when the Rare Beer Club included them as a selection last year for around 15/bottle if you purchased a case

I'm hoping this is the sort of thing where after the initial "one-bottle-per-person"/store owner talking up the rar release we end up with more being casually available in later months, like Vintage and Caractere Rouge.

Also, I'm surprised no one is pointing out this tidbit:

    Wonder what else is coming...

Doesn't sound like that will be case, according to a post in the "Belgium" forum on the beer:

Has this landed yet or any news on when in April we can expect it's release?
