So I've been sitting on this bottle for a while (unintentionally). I think I bought it 4 months ago, and since rogue doesn't bottle date, I have no idea actually how old it is. Is this beer going to be severely affected by 6 months out however old it is? Or will it be ok since it's 9abv?

9% is enough to keep a beer for a long while in proper conditions. After 6 months, don't expect much, if anything from the Sterling hops. Has it been in the fridge?

Only one way to find out right? Either it holds up or it doesn't. Hopefully it's still tasty.

It was not in the fridge for most of the time. Been in the fridge for the last month or so :slight_frown:

I'm probably doomed here, but we'll find out sometime this week

If it's a good beer it will still be good. Six months isn't long at all. The beer is still young.

Six months of age at room temp. can definitely effect a beer dramatically, for better or worse (mostly worse in my opinion)

It will taste just like what it is, a malt liquor.

I disagree. There may be differences, but in my experience they will be minor. Six months is no time at all. A bad beer might get worse, but a good one should still be good, especially at room temperature. Of course, the beer should have a best before date, but this is usually a year. I've noticed big differences over several years in beers, but a few months is nothing. I would avoid beer that gets 'dramatically' worse in months. I am aware of the current obsession here with 'freshness', but my view is that much of it is lunacy.

I bought a bottle once, it was flat as Hell and did not taste good. $15 down the drain.
