    Multi-tasking FTW.

I pretty much agree with this. Anyway, from what I understand, these beers are based on already existing doughnuts made by Voodoo Doughnuts. So Rogue never did any "conceptual creativity." They took descriptors from one iteration of doughnut and applied them to beers they were planning on brewing. Then they took the easiest route to getting these flavors into the beer.

I know I'm an idiot. That's why I made the thread. I can't control my curiosity. I was hoping I'd at least get an idea as to whether these ingredients could mesh to make a great beer, but the extracts were too harsh even for that. I guess I'm eventually going to have to try to homebrew this conception and do it right.

I have never been a huge fan of Rogue - I will go to the Ale House here in SF to meet with friends, and I will usually try a taster flight or two of the Rogue beers, but there is nothing that I would reach for a full pint of...

Normally, there are a bunch of great guest beers on to enjoy and visit with friends - the waitstaff is generally friendly and the location is fairly cool, so there is not much to complain about.

That being said, I have never, nor will I soon, purchase a Voodoo beer-variant, especially at that price point...

If you really want Rogue to make less Voodoo beers then stop talking about them.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the forum members buying the product do so because it has become forum shorthand for abomination. Why are people so eager to beat a dead horse? Oh yeah - to join in the conversation.

I have crusty dating back to '98. With some serious age the stuff is phenomenal. Really world class.

Tickers gonna tick...and bitch when they do. Drink beer that you like or expect to like not for a notch on your belt. Why would you expect anything good from a beer brewed to taste like a ridiculous donut.

Thanks for copy pasting dictionary.com, that's super helpful. I was more providing you he opportunity to walk that back since the hugely broad understanding of what you consider an additive or a chemical in beer covers malted barely and any flavor additive, ever. How do you ever manage not to be constantly outraged at all the beer you drink?

Meanwhile, Rogue keeps making it and "we" keep buying it. This beer is taking on an infamous legendary status. Crass marketing geniuses making a few extra bucks and the copy cats are already starting. I was tempted by it again just today...but went with Victory White Monkey for $5.99 ~ not bad at all.

The most disheartening part of this thread is realizing how many of you could actually buy it today, which is Sunday. :slight_frown:

There are a lot of people out there who are living the dream because Rogue (and only a few others) laid the foundation for the craft beer movement.

If people keep buying it, they will keep making it. By buying it, you told them to keep making it.

At least it's not in a swing top ceramic bottle. Still not buying it, though. Haven't been a big fan for a decade or so...

Idea: Instead of experimenting and brewing one-of-a-kind beers, let's do another IPA!

Hooray! More of the same! Why innovate when you can copy! :stuck_out_tongue:
