FYI, the Wine Merchant in Findlay got 5 cases of the Maple Bacon Ale, $11.99 a bottle. I haven't seen it anywhere in Toledo, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh, don't know how scarce or desirable it is.

It is all over Northeast Ohio where I am. I wouldn't buy it if it was 1.99 a bottle. Just sayin

30 cases came to Toledo/NW Ohio recently, so it is definitely around.

Had it once, glad to try it once, will never get it again.
If you haven't had it at least try it, you might like it.
Generally though people seem to dislike it in my personal experience.

Tastes like maple syrup drank out of a dirty ashtray. So in my opinion, not desirable.

I shouldn't say garbage. We should never dissuade the experimentation and reach of taste and brewing. I should have said Failure. It is burnt syrup in a bottle at a high cost for a bomber.

get one, share it with someone, then when youre done rinse out the glass and bottle instantly. Otherwise your house/apt will smell like maple syrup.

Would have been much more like a doughnut if they used and English barley wine as the base or at least a low attenuating yeast.

You're saying that like it's a bad thing! :grinning: Actually, thanks for the warning. I have a bottle that I plan on drinking sometime soon, so I'll take your advice.

It's been sitting around the Cleveland area for months. I'm disappointed that Voodoo Doughnuts put their name on this garbage... love that place.

Just tried it for the first time this weekend with my son in law after working on the wife's car all day Sunday and I must say I did not think it was a drainpour at all. I didn't find it to be refreshing but both of us thought it was a very interesting take on an experimental beer. Tons of smoke and meat flavor followed closely by mass amounts of syrup. Kind of like taking the crispy bacon off your plate and dipping it into the last of your pancake syrup after breakfast. No way could I drink more than half a bomber in a sitting and I doubt I would ever buy it again but for $11.99 a bomber I am in no way disappointed that I got to try it out.

I had one with some "age" on it apparently. Me and 3 friends split it, and hesitantly sipped, expecting horrible beer from all the horror stories. We All were pleasantly surprised. Not a Great beer by any means, but the "Smoke" was nowhere. All we tasted was"Pancakes". Not over sweet, just right. So I got 4 more as a surprise for my friends(They wanted the bottle) 2 from My sister Near Seattle, and 2 more in a trade from a guy in California. A week later, and it's in every store I go to in Cleveland and Mentor. If you get/have one....Put some age on it. Cheers

Wish Rogue would ship their other beers to Cleveland. I've seen the brown and the voodoo. Missing Oregon. Anyone seen other Oregon beers out here?
