Good timing on this thread. I've been wanting to try it..even in the face of some horrid reviews. I picked up a bottle today to bring to a tasting tomorrow. If nothing else (as proven by this thread) it will make for some interesting conversation.
Heck, I give them credit for the idea.

My philosophy is I'll try anything once.

I'm sure Rogue would be thrilled to be characterized as the "rebound beer."

I liked it, but thought it was way overpriced. Also, I think we can throw this topic into the heap of them that get repeated ad nauseum on here.

My wife and I were pretty pumped to try it after living in Portland for a while and frequenting Voodoo Doughnuts downtown. Other than nostalgia, I thought it was decent and interesting, but far from mind blowing. I definitely wouldn't call it the worst craft beer ever...but to each their own...

I enjoyed Maple Bacon myself. I bought a bottle and went out and grab a second. A couple of my buddies hated it while some others loved it.

I finally pulled the trigger (After a few pints at the Rogue Public house in Newport) and bought two bottles. Mainly I did this because my neighbor and I have threatened a couple of times to show up at one of our block parties and shame the other one into drinking it because we are homers. (For Oregon) The general consensus was that it tasted like a Dead Guy Ale left out all night then poured over a cold plate of leftover House of Pancakes flapjacks smothered in maple syrup and cold bacon grease. The next bottle is going to be a white elephant gift at the Christmas party.

The bottle itself is about 10x better than the beer inside it...that about covers it.

To me, it's nothing more than a novelty beer. Pink bottle and a funky name. Oh yeah, it didn't taste very good either.

I have a bottle of this in my beer fridge that I keep neglecting...need to tackle it.

I was fortunate enough to have a glass of Funky Buddha Maple Bacon Coffee Porter on draft during Philly Beer Week. It was absolutely amazing, especially as it warmed. Nose of maple syrup, flavor of bacon and coffee, such an awesome experience.

Hoping the Rogue will come close, though after reading through this thread, I am less than optimistic...thus the bottle being neglected, as I previously mentioned...

Hey now, don't make generalizations just because you do not like something. Plenty of folks enjoy smoked beer, in fact...I think I will have myself one right now with my breakfast.

Without hesitation, if offered, I would decline. Had 4 oz of it once off a friends bottle and had to choke it down.

I could see myself drinking a warm Budweiser sometime in my future, but never again this one.

Not everybody likes cornbread either. Those who do enjoy it can't agree if they want it fluffy and sweet, cheesy and gooey, or dense and savory. Just because someone doesn't like this beer doesn't mean they dislike smoked beers. Different palates and tastes keep us individuals and unique. That's a good thing in my book.

Not quite in the same league as that unfortunately.

I thought the Voodoo was a little sweet and bland tasting, but not terrible and interesting to share with others who are not as craft enthusiastic.

I am boycotting it because of the pink bottle. Any beer that needs a bottle like this probably isn't good enough to sell on its taste and overall quality alone. Same reason I won't buy wines in colored bottles.

I did not think it was anything great but it was not awful. For those saying Rouge makes all terrible beers...really? I would say BMC makes all terrible beers. Rouge makes beers for people who are not crazy beer geeks. I actually really like Yellow Snow IPA & Double Dead Guy.
