I enjoyed it, although it would have been better as a stout IMO.

The smell? Wall-to-wall maple syrup. The taste? It tastes like burning.

I picked one of these up the other day for a tasting. I probably would have skipped it, especially at the hefty price point, but a buddy of mine who isn't on BA asked me to look out for it. I have low expectations going in so hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

If you have another one, I'd be glad to try it and let you know if we agree or not.

As someone who generally hates smoke beers, I thought it worked pretty well. It's not a great beer, but it's a solid effort and a fun idea. I'll be curious to see how it ages.

However, I agree with some other posters that it would have been better as a stout or a heavy porter (which I think had been the original plan).

"... it tasted like a Dead Guy Ale left out all night then poured over a cold plate of leftover House of Pancakes flapjacks smothered in maple syrup and cold bacon grease"

Boy howdy, that description deserves to be put on a plaque somewhere.

Ghastly. We had it next to '97(?) Triple Bock & Romulan Ale*, for a "camp classic tasting." A fun nite, quickest drainpours ever.

    *6/5 for appearance, admittedly…

Not great but not as bad as others make it out to be (in my opinion).

Wow this is a case now of my needing to get this beer to see if it possibly could be as bad as everyone says. I've yet to try a Rogue beer that I thought was horrible (but only one I thought was amazing).

I understand this is some kind of tie-in beer. But c'mon, hasn't this whole put-bacon-on-or-in-anything fad gotten old?

The few times I've tried Rogue, I wasn't impressed. Nor do I like beers with non-beer flavors in them. So I won't be drinking that stuff on two counts.

I wasn't a big fan but I was able to take care of a bottle by myself. It smelled awesome but the flavors I was hoping to get from the nose where nowhere to be found which is I think where the disappointment begins for a lot of people. It smells fantastic so you think it has to taste good and have all these things appear during the drink and it just leaves you underwhelmed and disappointed.

I like the idea but I found the execution lacking.

What fad? Bacon makes everything better. Even ice cream and salad.

Gonna agree with you. I'm a fan I smoked beer and I thought this stuff was gross. I thought the smell was pretty awesome, but the taste just never really came close. It was smoky, but I really didn't get anything else from it. Wild Blue is still king for me in the Worst Beer Ever department. This was bad but Wild Blue is on its own level.

So you only like beers brewed in accordance with Reinheitsgebot?
