Rogue Voodoo Maple Bacon Donut -- New Recipe?

I might be the only person on BA who actually kinda liked it. I did like the ounce of Funky Buddha that I had more, but I still enjoyed the Rogue.

 

I was fully expecting to hate it, but actually enjoyed it. It wasn't my favorite smoked beer, but I liked it more than some others I've had (such as the Rock Art Smoked Double Porter, which I found to be a total campfire smoke bomb).

 

I found the beer to be interesting, not something I would buy again or ever care to try to drink a whole bottle of by myself but glad I had the experience. Have had much worse beers by breweries that get much more love on this site over the years.

 

Never had it, never will.

From what I've read, Rogue treats their workers like shit and everything I've had from them has been mediocre at best. Plenty of people won't drink Goose Island because ABI owns them, well this is my stand. I'd rather not spend my cash on a complete gimmick from a brewery I've never enjoyed and don't respect.

 

Hate them or love them is all I can say. Personally I enjoy them and having lived in Oregon and see the mentality of west coast people vs east coast, I hope the rumors are false on how they treat their workers.

 

Just tried the first batch this past weekend and it was horrible. I definitely won't be buying it again.

Was at bar in Vegas called the Freakin Frog and two of my friends bought voodoo... 25 dollars. yes... 25 dollars. Glad i got to taste it without ever having to purchase... its dreadful.

 

Ha. I like it, but I can see why some don't. Not something I'm going to drink a whole bottle of, but it seems to me they more or less captured the essence of a maple glazed Long John with a bacon slice on top.

 

I would like to formally introduce the two of you, and also reap a 20% dividend on all transactions.

 

This beer just showed up in Maine last week and morbid curiosity got the better of me, so I picked up a bottle. Haven't tried it yet.

 

Not sure about a new recipe but I know we just got a second wave recently. 12+ cases just landed at my local store. It looks like someone hurled Pepto Bismol all over the store.

 

I tried this and was not impressed. Two words: Meatball Sundae.
