At $14, that is the same 25% markup as everything else in the store. So no I won't blame the store owner.

I have one of these 2008-09 (?) XS Imp stouts if anyone is interested. I thought it was decent but not extraordinary.

They took an already overpriced beer (Double Dead Guy), and put it in one of their magical swing-top ceramic 750mL bottles to turn it into an even higher priced XS Dead Guy... FYI.

Come to think of it, my biggest complaint (other than price) regarding the XS series brews is that every XS bottle I'd previously seen had the year listed on it EXCEPT the XS Imperial IPA... which had no sign of a date ANYWHERE. How ironic that the beer I'd want a date on the most is completely lacking one!?

Blame whoever you want, I just threw in the store owner as an example. It's not Rogues fault they ask what they do across the country. If someone wants to buy beer from someone over a thousand miles away and ask what they need to, that's their prerogative. And like I stated, I wouldn't buy it for that price. No way! I just don't like how people blame Rogue. As a small business owner, I can say that I know how things add up when you buy them from a distance.

For the records, I could totally be wrong here. Perhaps there's something I'm missing. Do you guy's on the east coast drink any other "good" west coast brews IE: Mirror Pond? And are the prices there hiked up the same way?

    Regards,

    Chris

We don't get Deschutes here, but we get Stone, Lagunitas, SN, etc.

Here are some California IPA prices for comparison, taken from Total Wine's website:
    Stone IPA: $11.99
    Lagunitas IPA: $8.99
    SN Torpedo: $7.99
    Mad River Steelhead DIPA: $10.99
    Bear Republic Racer 5: $10.99
    Rogue Yellow Snow IPA: $14.99
Ballast Point Sculpin: $14.99 (for comparison I figured I would add in another overpriced IPA.)

When the Wegman's wants $17 for Old Crustacean, I'm like fuck that...

Ballast Point is about $13 here (Good, but not $13 good). Point well stated. There's no call for a $14 sixer of Rogue. Definitely not called for!
