I was looking forward to trying New Belgium's Rolle Bolle and bought a six pack at BevMo. I was surprised at how clear it was, even clearer than most white beers I've had. It was thirst quenching on yesterdays hot night. Yet, I was disappointed with its flavor profile. It was watery and slightly flavorful, but mostly bland. Crap, I have four more left over. What was your experience with this like?
I thought it was boring. No real flavor stood out to me other than a boring bit of yeasty flavor I can associate with NB. I live down the street from NB. I wish they'd stop experimenting with these fruity lips of faith series and then releasing TWO Belgian pale ales over the summer which would compete with each other (Loft and Rolle) that are both just boring. Get rid of that peach bomb of Rampant too and bring back Belgo. On the other hand, I hope in the future they make more releases like Red Hoptober, which is one of my all time favorite beers and one of the beers I've had the most of. (Free on draft backstage at a bluegrass festival for 4 days starting at 7:00am).
I thought it was on the higher end of average. Review here: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/192/91953/?ba=kojevergas
This sounds about like my experience. I was excited based on the nose--the aromas really struck me as quintessential Belgian Pale Ale. However, that excitement was quickly tempered by the taste, which I agree was watery, bland and forgettable. It made me glad that I was able to buy it as part of a mixer sixer, rather than a six pack. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't a BAD beer, and if I had bought a sixer, I don't think I'd have a problem finishing it, but if I'm looking for a flavorful beer, Rolle Bolle was just not it. Sad to think that it's the same style as Orval. On another note: Belgo is no longer being brewed!?!? Why the crap do they always kill the ones I like? Belgo, Mothership, C&C La Folie. Harrumph.
I thought it was pretty bad. I've had 4 out of the 6 in my fridge for over a month now. Not many beers last that long in my fridge. The underlying sweetness was gross
It wasn't horrible, they were going for a light summer drinker and it works. Nothing memorable but I wouldn't turn one down at a bbq.
