Rookie BIF Round 2 Hints and Hauls Thread

Amen. I spent so much time talking about my box and plotting ways to get stuff that I think my fiancé wanted to kill me!

I haven't had Bearded Iris personally, but I know a lot of guys around here drink it and love it, so I'm sure it's good stuff.

 

I dropped off two boxes this morning -- one was to somebody who is not in this BIF and who lives in a Big Ten state. That state has the same first letter and the same last letter as my target's state.

And Target -- here is your **tracking number** hint:

The first digit is the most common roll in craps, or backgammon, or monopoly, or any game involving a pair of dice
The second digit is equal to the number of participants in this round from "New" states
To get the third and fourth digits, add up the three individual digits in your area code, and multiply that sum by the third digit of your zip code
The fifth and sixth digits are the last two digits in your phone number
The seventh digit is the last digit of the year you joined Beer Advocate
To get the eight digit, take the average value of the digits in your street address and round up to the nearest integer
The ninth and tenth digits are equal to the number of letters in your state's name multiplied by the sum of the individual digits in your street address
The eleventh digit is equal to the number of letters in the name of your state
If you wrote out your last name with Scrabble tiles, the sum of the tile values would equal the last digit of the tracking number

I was told there'd be no math haha man glad I don't have to figure that one out

 

although with the effort I've seen you put forth on the build up I'd have to imagine your box will be on point

 

I hope? And based on my research I think my target should be OK with the math. Not sure he knows he's my target though!

Mike, re: the Mosaic thing... are you one of those people that get a ton of ammonia/ cat urine from the hop? That's pretty much me, though not 100% of the time. I wish I could just smell pineapple like everyone else.

 

It's more of an onion thing -- I'm usually OK if it's part of a mixed hop bill, but 100% mosaic is a no for me. My son is the same way; we figure maybe there's something genetic. I only mention it in my profile because it's such a prevalent hop.

 

My target's box hit the road Monday. It will arrive Thursday if all goes well...so anyone west of the Rockies is out.

Final Hint: Spongebob is yellow. The people who live in a town by the same name as my target's are not sponges, but share other characteristics.

Haul Hint: I can't count.

 

I feel you both on this - that's my experience with vic secret: all onion. I've only had a few vic secret beers that were tolerable to me. One was a home brew - go figure.

 

Same here. If Mike was my sender I would just give up and sit in a lawn chair at the end of my driveway waiting.

 

Interesting. Next time I run into it I'll see if what I've been describing as cat piss could be onion.

Isn't the human brain an amazing thing? It's crazy how two people can experience the same hop completely differently.

 

I'm really hoping you're talking about the hop and not the lingerie...

 

I typically only do this when I think my target might make the effort and doesn't mind. Or when I want to make somebody who's NOT my target but thinks he is do the work...

 

Thankfully, after the first time, I've learned that's not how lingerie was intended to be consumed.

I haven't denied or confirmed anything. But it honestly shouldn't take someone more than 5 minutes to figure out the clues anyway. And if you pick the right three or four hints I gave, you get down to only two possibilites very quickly.

I always appreciate when someone else is on the anti-Mosaic train. Makes me feel less alone.

I can relate, I have an issue with 100% galaxy for some reason. It does fine with other hops, but by itself it has sort of a salty, strange taste that I can't put my finger on.
