Rookie BIF Round 2 Hints and Hauls Thread

In honor of getting home in two days (man, that month flew by didn't it?!), I've uploaded reviews of the beers I've received and drank so far. Unfortunately they're not super detailed because I'm going off of memory and my untappd rating, but I wanted to make sure at least the rating was added here and I like the idea of doing that as a thanks to those who send them because they want people to learn about their local beers. I'll definitely be doing more detailed and punctual reviews in the future.

Moving forward I think I'm going to rate all the beers I receive from BA members on here and the rest on untappd as I just don't normally have time to rate every beer on here and untappd in addition to the ongoing discussions in our local facebook group. If time allows, I would also like to start participating in NBS, so maybe some non-BA received beers will make it on the site through there as well!

I look forward to being able to catch up on the pictures and match all the tasty brews I've seen on untappd here soon!

 

Two boxes packed up and dropped off at the post office this morning. Two hints and the tracking numbers:

1) Neither box is going to someone who has received beer from me before.
B) The boxes are going to two cities/towns that are less than 1,000 miles apart.

Unfortunately for me, they are both supposed to land on Thursday when I will be in an airport and likely not able to see the response until after I return home.

 

Sent out 2 boxes today each with a fresh King Sue. One went in a well traveled box that someone has sent to me once, maybe twice before. I’m pretty sure there are 10 layers of tape on that bad boy.
The other went in a small amazon box that fits two 16oz cans, 1 12 oz can, and 2 12 oz bottles real snugly. One of the bottles rhymes with combie crust. So if you have never had king sue or combie crust then u should keep an eye out later this week.

 

Nice! Love me some fresh King Sue. Kind of jealous you guys seem to get bigger TG drops than we do as of late. First world problems I guess.

I’m also shipping a box tonight / tomorrow. Heading east and haven’t shipped to this person before. Knocked out a few of your wants that I had around and probably wouldn’t get to anytime soon.

Ever try making your own hot sauce? It's pretty easy and it keeps forever.

As @Yabey 's victim in a different BIF, I can assure you that it will be worth the wait. Glad to hear that everything is okay.

 

Yup, I love it! A little goes a long way when you're using ghosts and reapers though. That remidns me, it's time to make more!

Man, I thought I had escaped relatively intact this round... not so!



@bl00 has sniped me once again with a very nice Priority box of cans. This was not expected, Dan, and goes above and beyond! I haven't had a single one of these beers - the only one I've actually heard of is White Bugatti. Color me curious, and excited - this is a great follow-up box, and I definitely appreciate it!



This may just call for a small "thank you" box. That's not a threat. It will be reasonable!

I'm still working on the peppers - made some salsa on Saturday, though I may have... well, liquified it, to the degree of a hot sauce. But, it's still going to good use, and I am looking forward to playing with more peppers soon. Thank you again - you've been a tremendously generous sender this round, and I look forward to dropping a box on your doorstep in the future. Make sure your wish list is updated. Cheers, Dan!

 

Its hard not to spread the love around when you get your hands on some good cans! Things just seemed so unbalanced with the last box being mostly dark beers, I thought I needed to even things out with some hops. Cheers Chris!

 

Thank you for the consideration and generosity! You're a good man, Dan - fantastic job with the boxes this round! I'm really looking forward to drinking everything you sent over. Much of it is stuff that I will feel guilty about drinking alone - these will be shared with those who appreciate great beer!

If you start posting at least semi-regularly on NBS, you would be welcome in the next NBS BIF, in the spring. Sadly, due to non-participation, I'm gonna have to start cracking down on who we allow in. But, you've participated well enough in this BIF, that I know you'd be a welcome addition.

Just gotta have a new-to-you brew, and be willing to chat a bit. NBS encourages reviews, but as long as you at least describe your beer in your post, that's acceptable. I suggest, that when ya have a few minutes, go back through a few past NBS threads, and get a sense for how it rolls. The whole point of that BIF is to drive NBS participation.

Yea I've been posting new brews either with descriptions or copy paste of actual reviews I think at least the last 3 or 4 sundays usually at least 2 beers a thread but not trying to post too much

 

I was thinking the same thing but did not want to say it!!!! Bombs away!!
