Rookie BIF Round 2 Sign-Up Thread

Man, not to rain on any parades, but I'm not sure what y'all consider a "rookie" to be.

There are certainly some Monkies With Knives vets in this thing.

Now that I think about it, I've never been in a BIF I didn't run. I'll get back to you in a couple days.

If I count as a "Rookie", I'm in. As I said above, I've never been in a BIF I wasn't running, so it'll be fun to see how the other half lives!

 

I just got back from fishing the Bay of Quinte this past weekend and got to try a lot of tasty Canadian brews since the LCBO I stopped at sells singles. I only mention this because some of them made it back across the border and may have gotten packaged up this morning to be dropped on the porch of someone signed up for this BIF. Just giving you fair warning.

 

The air is thick with anticipation!! Or is that just the humidity? You can definitely cut the air with a knife either way.

 

A couple questions for clarification purposes:

Is Oct 15 the ship by or receive by date? Earlier is acceptable, yes?

Is there an "Official" share date to post some reviews on, like we do on the NBS BIFs?

beer is the only requirement, anything else would considered an extra?

 

Aren't hints sort of a requirement?

 

Here's the one thing I'm going back and forth on...

I'd like to showcase what we've got in my area and there are a lot of good breweries but I'd say 2-3 really stand out above the rest.

Does everyone think it would be preferred to send 3-4 beers from each of the top few breweries or one beer from a lot of breweries to cover more area?

 

Could go either way, IMHO. In the NBS BIFs, it's a stated goal to hit your target with beer they've never had before. So, if they've never had any beer from Brewery X, sending them 8 from that brewery is fine. But, it may not be the best representation of your area.

OTOH, if you send 2 each from 4 other breweries, it reduces the chance that Brewery X's just don't push your targets buttons. Shrug.

That's part of the beauty of BIFs; it's a bit of a gamble on everyone's part. As I'm fond of saying: "The worst thing that can happen is I have to drink some beer."

 

If it were me, I would send the beers that I thought were better first and then fill in with other locals after that. But, everyone’s different and not too many people are going to complain about the beers you send.
