Hello from New England! Am heading to the Roscoe NY area the end of May and would like to know if anyone here can provide me with the local skinny on that area. Bars, bottle shops, etc. Thank you in advance.
I don't specifically know too much about Roscoe itself, but my parents live nearby in Bethel so I'll let you know what I've found around there. Catskill Brewing in Livingston Manor is really great, with a focus on wild/sour ales and Continental lagers. At the moment you can get bottles of their oak aged Flanders Red, which is on par with Rodenbach Vintage. Best beer store is Beer World Monticello, where you can find locals, some NYC brewers and a rotating crowler/growler station. Calliccoon is a cute little town on the Delaware, and their brewing company is a fine place to hang out. Only two house beers, but they also feature lots of NYS guest taps. Kauneonga Lake has a few spots - Benji and Jake's, for wood oven pizza, and Local Table and Tap for a more diverse menu. Both have solid beer selections. If you want more hoppy offerings, Equilibrium Brewing is about an hour away. You will probably see lots of Trout Town beers; it's ok, but going more for the wide appeal vibe.
