Hey, I think it's a great beer, but I disagree on this one.

What gets me is that beers with high gravity are priced higher because of "ingredients" -- Younger is pricier per oz than Elder, Drake's Black Label is pricier per oz than Hopocalypse. They charge more for the big beers but don't give us a break on the smaller ones. I realize there's a certain overhead cost just to release and distribute bottles, but if Hermitage can release that awful sour for $3 / bomber, I am quite convinced Drake's can bottom out well below $7 for Alpha Session. Or they could go to six-packs.

There are so many great beer options now that I can shop pretty aggressively for value and still drink like a king. I'll stick to growlers of Row 2 and skip Alpha Session.

/Drinks growlers of Haterade for $14 / fill

I'm hoping Bottle Barn will have it for cheaper just like all other Russian River beers.

And totally agree about Alpha Session. I loved that beer, but it needs to be cheaper (and in a six pack).

I drove to bottle barn yesterday with the hopes of getting some and they didn't have it. They said that they should be getting them today. Also Brux should be in today as well another I went and there to get

Listen to you Bay Area folk griping over pocket change. In SoCal Blind Pig almost never sits on the shelves, and some stores charge as much as $16 for Temptation and Consecration (and at that price these do sit a little on the shelves).

Blind Pig doesn't shit on the shelves here either. Hell, lately it hasn't even been available in bottles.

Actually, Blind Pig doesn't even sit on shelves here. I haven't seen it on a shelf in months.

It seems like Pliny and BP have been significantly harder the find this summer, I wonder if they're just making less...

The explanation I heard is that because of the Row 2/Happy Hops/Segal Select releases, they didn't have the capacity to keep up with regular production. It was either cut back on Pliny or BP, and Pliny won. My store got its first case of BP in about 2 months this week.

I really, really, really wish Vinnie would just expand already. I know it's not that simple, but come on man, so many people want your beer. Give it to them!

That's probably a good thing - you do NOT want to have to clean pig shit off the shelves, believe me.

I've winced and paid the $16 to complete a couple trades.

Exactly. I've always read that he doesn't want to get into dept, etc. but come on. A Russian River expansion would have the fastest ROI in the history of the brewing industry.

It should be noted that they did expand significantly about four years ago. They only really got all the kinks out production brewing maybe two years ago. I would enjoy staying put for a little bit if I were him, too.

Let me know if you decide to head out, I've been eyeing these bottles since I had a pint at the Beatification release.

Total rip. Zombie Dust is $10/6, $35/case. Pricing an APA the same as PtE is dumb. People will pay it though since it's RR!?!?@#$@ Vinnie sticks with singles to **** with pricing. APA's are session beers and should be in 6 packs.

Total rip, ******? Kinda sorta..Semi true, but kinda harsh.
I do agree that there is some price gouging..but it seems that 12 oz bottles or cans are a popular and trend worthy angle at marketing. Should it be same price as a relative beer bottled in a bomber.. No! Keep in mind that these are one off recipes and might take more time, space, or ingredients. However it still unjustifiable.
CA gas has dipped into the $3.50 range and 1 bedroom apts. are now $300k. Sounds like a great time to charge $5 for a 12 oz bottle.
Out of state.. $8 seems appropriate. :rolls eyes:

Alpha Session is a great deal... If you're like a Hobbit or something and wanna get smashed.
Your not supposed to quantify it like that, it makes the beer taste funny. Hard to load up on the bottles when the growlers of it are what, $12?

And the AS @ $7~8, f me, when I saw it on the shelves I figured you gotta be stone cold brainlocked to put that in the basket.

Having just gotten a 6er of Founders All-Day IPA for $7, I can further confirm what a bad deal Alpha Session is. And All-Day is a lot better.
