Will PVW Eclipse be on the Menu? What beers will be paired with the different courses?

Stumbled apon some today in OC, but with a bottle date from 3 weeks ago...it seems a bit tardy for distro to trickle in.
The beer was really good and had a drier character than most of their IPAs.. But didn't feel like the hop description played the part of actual taste.

I really like the BOD concept, however it makes you wonder what flavors were lost in a beer that focuses on the theory of consuming fresh.

They keep them in the back, did you ask someone? I also stopped by Bradley's liquor by the tustin brewery and the guy said he had some. I already have enough so I didnt take the offer. Hope this helps!

Thanks man. I'm actually down in Aliso Viejo now, so I tried the new Whole Foods on Aliso Creek and they don't even get Russian River at all. The beer guy said RR isn't adding new accounts because they can't keep up with existing ones.

Found my bottle at O'Shea in Laguna Niguel. They got a single case of 24 with a 1 bottle per person limit. I'm sure they're all gone now.

A buddy called High Time in Costa Mesa and they're already out too. OC Wine Mart in Irvine apparently never got any.

Never checked Whole Foods Tustin but they usually get RR if you ask.

You win, I did not ask. I was in a hurry and went straight into the cooler where they usually keep PtE so I assumed they'd do it that way.

Grabbed some at Beer Rev last night, dated 6/26/12 also. $5, 1 bottle limit to-go. I definitely enjoyed it last night but I need to try it again by itself to give it a fair review.

Haha, unfortunately no  The other beers will be their regular beers. There will be a reception beer and 5 beers with the food. There will be a Rockslide IPA, Charlie Brown Ale, Donner Party Porter, Base Camp Golden Ale, a pale ale (i think) and then BART.

These beer dinners have been fun. We do one a month with Kitchen Door and have so far featured Lagunitas, Bear Republic, Drake's, Napa Smith, Lockdown and Anchor. On Monday we'll have July's with Sierra Nevada, and then August will be 5050!

Tried this and a zombie dust back to back. I think the Row 2 has a better aroma, but the ZD tastes much better IMO.

I agree with regard to the batch of Row 2 currently on shelves. It's a different beast when it's really fresh (as is ZD). The aroma for Row 2 hangs on longer, while the flavor hangs on longer on ZD (though the nose falls apart).

Picked a few last week and it's a really nice APA, for me nowhere near Zombie Dust. Not burning to run out and buy more.

    Cheers......

Hey OTB, Zombie Dust?? Sorry, maybe I'm a bit behind on my brews. Info please.
I had the row 2 at BW 1 last friday and a very good 1 hop beer. I think it would of gone nice with one of Gabe's meals. A good starting beer IMO. Have you had FW 805 yet? Kinda reminds me of that. But with more hop flavor.

Hey man, Zombie Dust is made by Three Floyds, Indiana. It's an APA made with 100% Citra hops. It is the best APA I have ever had hands down. I traded a buddy a bunch of Alpine for a couple six packs and some bombers of Dreadnaught and Artctic Panzer Wolf, also big DIPA's from Three Floyds. If you can get some fresh bottles you'll see what I'm talking about, sounds right up your alley, and I agree with you Row 2 rocks, and is a great ice breaker, but having just polished off the last of my ZD I guess i was a bit jaded.

    Cheers.....

I'm not trying to be antagonistic here, but how quickly does Zombie Dust fall off? I liked it the first time I had it (I didn't think it was as good as Row 2 but that's neither here nor there) but the last few bottles it's been decidedly middle-of-the-pack for an APA, let alone the IPA that its ABV says it should be (I mean no nose, body was all malt, couldn't detect citra at all, just really mediocre). I'm wondering if it falls off super fast, just doesn't ship well, or what.

Is this anywhere around San Diego or Pasadena still?

It falls off preposterously fast. The first time I had it was the day of a brewery release, and it was really spectacular. By the time I had the bottles I took home three days later, it was down to just OK. The big aroma dies quickly, and the body isn't much.

That was my suspicion. Citra beers are really fickle, in my experience. I had some really amazing growlers of Kern Citra (and it was stupidly good on tap the brewery), but others were quite subdued comparatively. It wasn't a time thing either, the one that made me go "huh, this isn't as good" was like #2 that I opened (of 4).

Absolutely. This is one reason I will never trade for ZD, but will buy it in the midwest if I know when it went on sale/got bottled. And why I remain wary of Simtra, even having had an OK bottle of it.
