When I was at Johns about a year ago and they have a couple "-tions" but had none last time I was there (3 months ago)...

Fat Head's was a pleasant surprise. Hopefully Hop Juju will be back by the time you get here. The Deschutes brewpub was also a great experience; highly recommended. For bottle shops, I would suggest Beermongers and Belmont Station.

    New Game:

Whenever someone from out of town asks what they should drink in Portland or Seattle, lets post a current online tap list for a bar in the city and ask him to tell us which beer he would choose. Then we can tell him if he chose right or wrong. This is gonna be great, and possibly really dumb.

Sound like fun? Great. Let's Start.

@HartsyThaiFood Here is a online tap list for Belmont Station (its on the right sidebar): http://www.belmont-station.com/
Which beer would you get? There are multiple right answers.

Admitedly, this is a tough one.

    ...aaaannndddd go!

@TheeWalrusHunter I weirdly enjoy this game and will happily participate.

My first instinct would be Pliny simply because it's something we can't get here in Chicago, so I'd probably start with a reliable pick.

If I had to make a local-only pick, though, I'd shoot for the Tank Slapper. I like IIPAs and thought that I had heard good things about BB beers.

...but now I see Parabola on tap.......crud......

I opted to buy a bottle of Parabola so I could focus my on-site efforts on Pliny.

Job well done. The Pliny was a decoy for Barley Browns, I think you picked up on that.

Though it was sort of a trick question.... bypass the taproom go straight to the adjoining bottle shop and crack open a Logsdon seizoen bretta. Proceed to chug out of the bottle.

In all seriousness, yes drink all the Barley Browns IPAs you can find. Also Boneyard, and Laurelwood, and Breakside.

Even by Belmont Station standards, that's a particularly outstanding tap list. Anyone try the BB Belmont CDA yet? Given how tasty Chaos is, I'll bet it's delish.

Am coming up for the Saraveza event this weekend... hopefully it will still be on!

It's awesome, the bottles are a steal, and they were even filling growlers as of yesterday.

Plus, I was wondering something, what Ohio beers should I drink when I visit Illinois?

It's fantastic. Much lighter and more 'sessionable' than Chaos....I prefer it over both Chaos and Turmoil.

We had them keg off eight 1/2bbls of Belmont Black, and we're just going to run them back to back until it's gone. It's moving roughly a keg every 3-4 days, so with any luck we'll still have it on for at least part of CBC week.

That was my take as well. I liked it quite a bit, but not as much as armored fist. As for Chaos and Turmoil, it's really hard for me to compare those beers to the Belmont Black. Those two beer were so much more massive and hoppy than the Belmont black.
