RR sours in SF

Inner Richmond is a neighborhood in San Francisco that is not part of the City. Richmond of the possibly violent place is 20 miles away in the East bay, but that doesn't seem to disuade you from posting an uninformed message targeting a place you have probably never been to. If you have ever been to a violent incident in the Richmond in San Francisco I would be interested? If you reallly know of someone being assulted in the Richmond of SF I would like to know

 

Are you a politician or cop in richmond? I know this is very serious business we are discussing (beer) but no need to get all inquisitive about my experience with a city.

 

but not only did your original comment have absolutely nothing to do with beer, it was complete misinformation and obvious you had no idea whatsoever what you were talking about. Why some people feel the need to comment in every thread, regardless of their knowledge, is beyond me.


Regarding the RR sours, if you have a car your best bet may be just to shoot up to the brewery (might still have beatification on tap too), but you should be able to find a couple of the sours around they city. Try City Beer Store, Healthy Spirits, etc. Would require a cab from the Inner Richmond. I'm sure there are a few other places as well, I'm sure others will chime in.

 

Since the sours are popular & seasonal... Supplication is on the shelves right now, Consecration is still around a few places (Ledgers in Berkeley, Monument out in Concord), Temptation is gone from just about everywhere & not expected back until late Summer. Not a lot of good beer out in that part of the city, I'd say your best bet would be to head to a Whole Foods. City Beer & Healthy Spirits are both worthy of a look but also quite expensive.

 

The only good beer store in the Richmond District (where I live and it is definitely not dangerous) is Healthy Spirits. Ales Unlimited is not far and you may score an RR sour or two at the Bevmo on Geary.

Hmm, I seem to recall seeing Pliny at a Marin location once, but that was in 2012 and who knows how they got there. I definitely have not seen any of their beers at a Bevmo recently, though, now that you mention it. Either way, the city is small and not too difficult to get around using public trans, cabs, Uber (or riding!)... so I wouldn't limit myself if I were the OP unless you're short for time and it doesn't sound like that's the case.

 

BevMo has not carried RR for a long time. (According to the internets) Vinnie pulled distribution pre-2012 due to BevMo refusing to refrigerate Pliny. Actually, that explanation has been circulating since mid-2000s.

 

I'm 99.9% certain that I saw a single row of Plinys (with a one-per-customer tag) in the fridge at the Novato Bevmo in September of 2012, but again not sure how they got there. Seems like an odd thing for a corporate store to gamble with and I stopped taking hallucinogens several years ago, but you never know. Anyway, we're off course. Make the trip up to the brewery, OP, you have 10 days!

 

Blackwell's on Geary consistently carries RR.

 

If you have the time you might as well take the 2hr drive up to the brewery.

You can check beermenus for pretty well current bottle lists at both Ales Unlimited and both Healthy Spirits locations (Clement is in the Richmond so closer). Ales Unlimited currently lists Consecration, Damnation, Temptation, Temptation 2011, plus Pliny and Blind Pig. You should always ask there as well. Healthy Spirits Clement lists no RRBC beer at the moment, but Castro store lists Supplication and Damnation. City Beer, Other Avenues grocery in the Sunset (across GG Park), and Whole Foods easily could have RRBC options.

Of course, many of these places have wonderful sours from other breweries as well...

I need to check out Blackwells one of these days.

 

Where are you at? I was at Cabrillo & 6th for a number of years. Loved hearing the fog horns on the Golden Gate at night. Wasn't much into craft beer at the time, but had Lagunatis at the Safeway on 6th and Cabrillo when that existed.
