You knew it was coming! Go!

Obviously Stone had to do something to kick start sales here. And it seems to be working! But for straight enjoyment, which do you like better?

    No voting for RuinTen.

    I prefer Ruination 1.0 . . . The original.

Ruination 2.0 is seriously legit. It's not the IBU bomb the original was but it's keeping up with the times.

Drinking a 2.0 right now, think it has a bit more depth than the original. Not the palette wrecker that 1.0 was, but solid either way.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but neither are that special to me. I liked the original better, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to try them again. Maybe it's a freshness issue being from the Midwest, but I have always enjoyed their standard IPA, and enjoy by is also a solid offering. Something about ruination just doesn't do it for me.

I'm already voting for 2.0 because I saw it at my bottle shop for $12 a six!

I'll give a legitimate opinion when I actually try it...

Not sure why a beer that helped put them on the map had to be changed. I guess being on the east coast and having a go to like Ruin 1.0 for the West coast palate wrecker was awesome. Now it is more East coast in my opinion. Sales will always win out but I miss the original. What is on shelves now is old. Oh well, it is what it is. Now they can do "special" releases of the "original".

I love 2.0. I think it is a fantastic ipa, but i can't say I like it more than the original, which was one of my favorite beers around.

Maybe it wasn't selling well anymore now that the IPA market is like a billion times more saturated than when this beer put Stone on the map.

I haven't had them side by side, but so far I haven't really noticed a difference

Prefer the original Ruination. I also enjoyed the original Pale Ale a lot, though haven't tried the 2.0.

Fewer and fewer Stone beers in my rotation now.

I liked the original better. It was more of a bitter palate wrecker, whereas the 2.0 I tried is more citrusy. I know the OP said no votes for Ruin Ten but honestly that was my favorite of all.

Honestly hard to say. 2.0 seems a bit smoother and with less bite. It certainly goes down easy. I think I'd vote for the original(not the original original but the... you know what I mean.) I like that bite.

The reason Ruination was even a thought to me before was because it was unique in being so aggressively, unabashedly bitter. Now it's lost in a sea of similar tropical bombs. It's still a good beer, but I'm less apt to buy it now that it's more "timid," for lack of a better term. That said, I do still love how well the alcohol is hidden.

I don't dislike 2.0 but would have been just as happy if they stuck to 1.0.

2.0 is not all that much different from 1.0 IMHO. It's a bit cleaner, and the citrus is a bit brighter. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same beer.

For me, it's a cleaned up version of the original and I'm all for it. Now I'll consider purchasing a sixer when I see it fresh, opposed to passing by it.
