Didn't care for Old Rasputin. There's something a little too raisin-y for my taste with some of the North Coast stuff.

Ps. Thanks for looking out! If it's a long way for you, sounds like we might have to trade sometime

Haha, yeah, MZ is what Darkness will be when it grows up. That said, Darkness is absolutely delicious.

Haven't had, and from what I can tell - it's ridiculously difficult to get.

Didn't care for Speedway, like at all :slight_frown:. Maybe the BA version is better?

Maybe give LA Deliverance a try. It's Serpent's blended with Angels Share from two different types of barrels. The sum is much better than its parts.

I've heard people compare smuttynose RIS to darkness quite a bit although I havent seen any in my neck of the woods in a while.

IMO Stone is about as good as it gets for a straightforward RIS.

I like Darkness, it's a fun beer...kind of sweet though. If you can get your hands on Abyss you will probably like it. Otherwise Ten Fiddy comes pretty close to the Dorkness experience, and it comes in cans which is fucking rad.

If you like hoppy stouts, then you need to try The Gomez (sadly it's tap only). But if you do like the beer that much, I highly recommend Black Albert, Black Damnation 1 and Mushy P.

As for non_BA stout, Abraxas is king

Not that my av gives it away or anything, but Weasel Boy Anastasia is pretty damned good, not just according to me, but according the judges at GABF that gave it a Bronze in 2010 and a Gold in 2012

I believe MZ is the base beer for Hunahpu. I agree though, both are excellent.

I think the closest to the ridiculous chocolate notes I got in Darkness 2012 is Oskar Blues Ten Fidy. It's easy to come by, but pricey.

Lol, just had a BCS. Good, but a far cry from Darkness imo. I'll have to give Narwal a try sometime.
