Rum Barrel Aged Pumking

Just thought it was ok, especially for the price point. It was just a less sweet version of the regular pumking.

 

Yeah after having had it fresh, i would cellar it.

 

was wondering if i should cellar mine... too hot right now?

 

I got one in PA, I'm going to drink it this week. I think cellaring is kinda dumb in general but for this beer especially, I just want to see what it tastes like now, when the brewer decided to put it in the bottle. There is nothing subtle or elegant about Southern Tier beers, if its harsh then so be it, they bottled a harsh beer. I'm not going to try to nurture my precious Pumking into something it will probably never be.

 

Just saw this at GE Market District in Robbinson tonight if
anyone is interested. They had about 10 cases.

Save your money... it wasn't worth the $17

 

Looks like it's in stock at the Total Wine in Laurel, MD according to their website. I'm on the fence about picking up a bottle, it's pricey and I'm not crazy about pumpkin beers, but I do like a lot of what Southern Tier puts out.

Actually spoke to someone at my local shop and they should be getting this in tomorrow. Pretty stoked to try it. Seems to be 50/50 from people - they either love it or hate it.

 

I'm drinking it now, its not that good. There's no barrel flavor, just cheap rum mixed with Pumking, and they don't go well together. Plain oak probably would have been good, but this doesn't work.
