Anybody heard if Rum King was going to be released anytime soon? Seems like with such a great beer they should work on releasing it more often. I really want to find another to send to a friend. We just started sending each other boxes of nice beers without warning.

I believe they have another batch in barrels right now.

May want to dig through their twitter account, believe there was an announcement a few months back.

Hmm, they're releasing it more than once this year? That'd be awesome as I only got one glass on tap and missed the bottle release.

There was a tweet from April 30th that the rum barrels arrived. Triple the amount from the last batch. Not sure on a release date, but seem to remember some mention around the same time as last year.

Most likely going to release again in October, same as last year.

I remember from a Memorial Day weekend visit if you leave the taproom to use the restroom and look to your left after that first short hallway, there's a whole bunch of rum barrels fenced off but there for the whole world to see.

I assume they must be full by now. Wish I still had my bottle but traded it away since I already had it a few times. Do they say how long they're aged on the bottle? I don't think they had that info. Looked like they just put the little sticker to show their new bottle. Gonna look at the beer here and see how long it is aged. I had some of the first keg at that stout fest in St. Paul where they had 10 stouts with flights and the only way to BCBS was in a flight.

For those who have cracked a bottle in the last couple months is it holding up well or has the flavor profile changed? Just wondering if it's worth it to trade for now or wait for the next release. If you have one BM me and we should be able to work something out if it's holding up. Willing to go over $4$ depending on the beer. I know I have something you want. Just want to send one in a box to a guy. Starting to get into making nice boxes and sending them to cool people. I thought this would be a nice addition.

What should this trade for these days? I was offering a Huna and would have added which I think is more than fair. I traded mine away for an Upland Lambic and thought I got a good deal. Someone just wanted a DBHuna for one.

Any local input on what this should trade for? Maybe since those who got two traded or drank their other one and really don't want to let them go. Any input would be great and appreciated whatever it is. Am I lowballing this? If so, what would be a decent offer? I might not have the bottles you mention but I can try to recreate the rarity with similar bottles.

I traded a Chocolate Rain for a bottle (IP trade) a couple of months ago.

Interesting. If it trades that high now I am certainly waiting as I would rather give my trading partner different stuff. That being said I have never tasted CR but a friend has it on the way and I have GM, BT, and MW in the mail. Thanks for the input. I am off here. Do you think a Huna and a CW16 would work or would I still need to add more? Maybe I can figure out what somebody wants for theirs and try to trade my bottles for that so it could be all IP. I might trade a bottle of Cantillon for one. I need to think. anymore input or offers appreciated. Definitely willing to throw in a 4/pack of KBS into the mix. Just trying to get a decent deal so that we are both happy.

I traded one (plus some out of market shelf stuff to even up $4$) for a CCB 110k+OT Batch 6.

Interesting. Thanks or the input. Looks like its trading higher than when it just was released which makes sense. I'll just have to wait for the next batch. I guess I can find some other bottles now to put in a box and get him one later. I guess I could have traded mine for more. Oh well... We were both happy with the trade. It's not about getting the most but just being happy with the trade.

Whoa, things like DB Huna and CR for Rum King? I mean, I think it's really good, but over my dead body would I trade a regular Huna and a btl of CW16 for one btl of Rum King. I guess I had no clue the trade value was so high for this.

^^ this was my reaction too. Shit I'll have to buy a few bottles this year if that's the case...

A trading buddy of mine that really wanted one sent off a Port Damon for his Rum King. So I'd say there is some serious trade value in that beer. I was able to snag one as part of a big trade, so I can't really say straight up what I sent for mine. It included PseudoSue & Let it Ride on his end and on my end was Bruery RS sours, some Night Shift stuff, and probably Pipeworks or something local. I just sent a huge porch bomb, so it's hard saying.

All I know is that this thread has me seriously excited to share mine with my buddies at our upcoming bottle share on the 28th. This thread definitely upped my cred bringing that beer. Haha!

I think the trade value has a lot to do with the bottle count. My understanding is that they only bottled 30 cases and only sold something like 25, after holding some back for staff and special events so there were only about 300 bottles made available for purchase. Not to mention it is a damn fine beer.

I missed out last year as I was out of town and then just busy. My brother had it and loved it. I need to grab some this year.

Exactly, it's a solid beer that has a nice twist (rum) compared to most BA brews, but the trade value is dictated by the availability. I would still rather have my Huna and CW16 than one bottle of solid rarity, but that's just like, my opinion, man...
