Yah sounds like I may have a trade tentatively lined up for a Huna and a 4/pack of KBS. I don't mind trading those as it is for a person who I just want to send a nice box of locals to and I think that bottle belongs in there.

Rarity would mean anything (or not nearly as much) if it wasn't really, really tasty. It's gotten a great rep because of how good it is, not because of the bottle count.

Hopefully there is a significant amount bottled next time around. I would easily buy 1/2 a case if it was an option. Not too many beers I can say that about.

Yes, agreed that quality is obviously the first thing, I was taking that as a given. Having met a certain quality threshold however, rarity plays a big part in the trade value. Only a max of about 300 people will own a bottle of the first batch (though hopefully it will be shared so many more get to try it) and, for better or for worse, to some people that exclusivity is worth a premium.

Holy shit, this is why I don't trade! Too much to keep track of!

Yes, a great rep due to the beer itself and not the rarity. I 100% agree and have nothing bad to say about the beer. It is merely my opinion that if there was a much larger bottle count, it would trade more along the lines of bottle for bottle or $4$ with Huna and CW16, not for substantially more.

Well I'm hoping it'l be released maybe this year, around the same time as last year? I definitely will make it my mission to get there for the release, hands down an amazing beer.

Geesh if the above is what Rum King is trading for, what can I get for my bottles of Lawson's Rum Barrel Aged Fayston Maple Imperial Stout?

If you throw a bottle of Huna on top of it, you just might be able to land yourself a bottle of Rum King...:grimacing:

Maybe they will take a page out of TG and make another 300 cases and have a 2 case purchase limit...

that would so be worth the trip for me, let's hope so. I doubt it though. They may make it 5 or 6 if they are making more than last time.

I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but Rum King for the most part, really only trades well in MN.
It just doesn't get much interest anywhere else.

Yes, it's pretty good - but no one outside of St. Cloud, or Rochester has barely even heard of Indeed.
Don't hold your breath trying to land anything more than a Hunah, or something in that range for one.
It will never hit whale status, even with the low bottle count.
And by the time you send a box to FL, what are you actually gaining?
You would probably just be better off drinking it, if you have one.

Like I said, it's pretty good - but BA Silhouette is even better, IMO.
    I wouldn't trade either.
But then again, I'm tired of shipping out perfectly good beers.

    ^^^^ so much this!!!

Rum King holds more value to the possessor than anyone who would trade for it. Shipping it away would be a waste unless it's to a regular trading partner. There is nothing you could get with either Rum King or BA Sihouette that you couldn't get with more readily available beers like darkness,

I would agree that Indeed has not gained a whole lot of attention that I am aware of outside of Minnesota. However, I will say that the two trades I have been a part of that included Rum King going out were with people in Madison and Illinois, and in both cases, they were looking for that particular beer, so if they continue producing high quality beers like Rum King they will gain some (more) attention.

I agree that it does not belong on teh walez list but at 360 bottles there just isn't that much of it out there, so simple supply and demand dictates that it will trade a little bit higher than if there were 3600 bottles. Here's hoping they quadruple (or more) the batch this year! I would love to see Indeed make a name for themselves since they are doing some really good stuff right now.

Oh yeah, and I think both beers are fantastic, but agree that BA Silhouette is better.

I think that really depends on where you are trading. In the Midwest, and especially in MN, I don't think Darkness would trade nearly as highly as these two beers (two examples above from myself and @Ungertaker of trades that probably would not have happened with Darkness in place of Rum King). Darkness may trade higher on the coasts where its reputation precedes it and no one has heard of Rum King or BA Silhouette. Still, brewery only, very highly-rated, 800 or less bottle count BA stouts vs. a 15,000+ (20,000+?) bottle count non-BA stout available through distro throughout MN and now in Chicago? Those two things do not seem equal to me. But, it only takes one person who really wants to try a particular beer to make a trade happen...
