I stopped by a bottle shop yesterday, having been out of the country the last two weeks, and was surprised to see Alesmith on the shelf! I grabbed some TG (awesome to see this everywhere now) and some Speedway, and mentioned to the shop guys how I had no idea Alesmith was here.

One of the guys brought up that they had heard that Firestone Walker is being courted by Minnesota distributors.

I don't know if this is old news, but man that would be awesome. Im glad to see that some of these breweries are coming into the state! The less I need to drive to Hudson, the better!

Wouldn't it make more sense for FW to court Minnesota distributors...

Could this be at least partly the result of the Duvel-FW deal announced a while back? I had hoped for increased distribution because of the merge/acquisition.

Minnesota distributor "please let us help you sell more of your beer"
FW "maybe if you are lucky"
    Minnesota distibutor "please"
FW "we will think about it, we sell enough beer as it is now, sorry we don't need to sell
    More"

    ?

FW: Hey, we want to sell our beer in MN
Distributors: OH, PICK ME, PICK ME!!!!
FW: Hmm... all of you want to sell my beer b/c its awesome and people are gonna but the shit out of it, who should I pick?
Distributor 1: I will buy it from you at this price and these terms
Distributor 2: I will buy it at a higher price and these better terms
Distributor 3: I will buy it at distributor 2's price and terms AND I'LL BLOW YOU

    Distributor's courting FW.

Long overdue. Seems like every other state gets their beer

Can't come soon enough. To everyone who's asked (& many who haven't) over the past several years, my response is always "Firestone Walker" is the brewery I'd most like to have in MN.

IMHO, this would put a cherry on top of the state's amazing transformation from beer backwater to a place with an astounding number of choices over the past 6-7 years.

Every state on the West Coast maybe. Hopefully they will start to fill out the middle of the country after this deal.

That is kind of what I figured too, but someone thought they did and make a whole new thread about it. I got pretty excited when I clicked on the link though.

@AnalogErik, this reply is more in-line with other recent post re: Firestone Walker and Minnesota, and the fact that Cold Spring* packaged some cans for "FireWalker" earlier this year, but see this thread on the other site.

Hopefully you folks will get your itch scratched at any rate.

*21st Amendment isn't criticized over their decision to co-package their brands at Cold Spring, so I'm not sure why anyone would ding Firestone Walker deciding to do the same. The Third Street facility is state of the art, after all.

I see them invading the rest of Illinois, Wisconsin or even michigan before Minnesota for some reason. Fingers crossed though. Union Jack is fantastic as is all of their barreled stuff

I'd just hope the hoppy stuff they send to MN is fresh and not already half a year old by the time it reaches shelves.
