I don't feel sorry for you at all. Yeah Avery is close to me... but man, Fort Collins is THE beer capital! Let us have this...

If anyone from Ft. Collins is heading down and not getting the full 12, I would be looking for any amount and can get you the cash ahead of time. Cheers, Steve

Does Avery fill growlers of Tweak or Uncle Jacobs Stout?

They also make more money selling them individually.

How was the Rumpkin release last year (or any of the other brewery bottle releases) - I will be in town in about a week, any chance that there would be bottles left?

Feels like a stupid question but one can hope...

It normally takes over a week, more than two, before they start popping up in stores.

So will everyone else, it's GABF!!!
Yeah usually hits shelves as tacosand beer said. This year with everyone coming to Colorado don't expect to sit as long. It was around maybe for a week or two at least. $12+ a bottle.

They don't fill growlers of anything.

Maybe they will up the 12 bottle limit, like they did with Oud Floris, and me and the GF can come home with two cases instead of one. Maybe? :-) Very doubtful.

That's a lot of shekels, Skeeter.

It seems like Avery is pulling out some pretty big guns for this release party (more than usual). Makes me wonder if they see Rumpkin as the marquee Avery barrel beer. Where's Andy when you need him?

:-) Half of today's haul is for a fellow BA who can't make it. I'm always happy to, and have in the past, pick up extra bottles for those who can't make it. Hell I've been to releases just to pick up bottles for others. It is what it is. That being said, if the bottle limit is increased, I'll walk out with two cases.

@joshclauss... I don't think it's that Rumpkin is the marquee Avery barrel beer, though it certainly has a healthy following. It's more that we're trying to make the release parties more fun and interesting for everyone. Let's face it... the act of standing in a line is not all that great of a time by itself. The Odio Equum party will have a similar pile of fun stuff on tap... a couple of repeats from the Rumpkin party, but also quite a few other fun treats.

It also just so happens that I spent much of the last two weeks compiling and preparing a bunch of fun kegs for events around GABF, so I tried to make enough extras to fill these two release parties up with everything I could. So the timing was especially good for these two parties.

@tacosandbeer... I don't actually know what the plan is for the bottle limit. I let the smart office and Tap Room people handle logistics. They're far better at that sort of thing. Due to the smaller batch this year and the fact that our distributors would love to have twice as much we can give them, it seems a little unlikely to me that they'll raise the limit. But stranger things have happened, so feel free to ask around when the line dies down a little.

And now off to go play outside...

    -Andy

Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on at least one when they hit the stores. Have to work today, or other wise I'd make the drive up there.

The 12 bottle limit I'm referring to came from the Avery site. It's what was/is advertised on the calendar. I'm sure everyone at Avery communicates and this isn't a random number someone came up with. In regards to it being raised, I was kidding, hence the 'doubtful'. And I am aware there is a smaller batch this year thanks to you sharing information with us ("this year's batch is 22 oak barrels, where last year's was over 30.") which I appreciate, and believe it or not, I took into consideration when I decided to come to today's bottle release. I love Avery. One of my favorite places to go have a beer. Cheers.

You're right... it's definitely a 12 bottle limit. I was just referring to a potential limit-raising strategy if there is one. Evidently I need either more coffee or more beer before trying to elaborate coherently

Very true which is partially why I was doubtful, though it seems like the main crowds don't really show up until mid-week.

In any case, is the brewery likely to still have bottles for sale after today or will it all go into distribution after the release? I will be visiting the brewery for sure, but don't feel like trying to track down a hot commodity at unknown bottle shops if at all possible.

I think most all of it goes into distro after the weekend if I remember correctly.

Bring me some White Rajah, BA Hollow Pumpkin or Fathead's and I may be able to track you down a bottle or two  Actually it's tough because everywhere limits to a bottle where the release is unlimited! I still have a decent amount left from last year. I think you would have a chance of finding some, but with craft brew these days and the growing popularity it's always hard to predict.
