I'm only going to be in San Antonio and Austin today and tomorrow 14th and 15th. Conditions on a wide selection from any liquor stores or breweries I should check out.
I'm in the Great Lakes area and when people post looking for a great spots in a new and foreign area people jump at the opportunity to assist. As I read through pages into Southwest forums it seems people to say read through the forum and find your own answer versus helping with first-hand knowledge. I have looked and I've used the BA tools to find The top stores in the San Antonio and Austin area. I do tend to find those are somewhat skewed, and would prefer some real knowledge. I guess I'll go use the ratebeer forum!
Did you find the Visiting Austin threads? You didn't ask any specific questions. You just barfed out, "what breweries and liquor stores should I go to?", which is pretty well answered in the Visiting Austin threads. Are you just looking for people to shout their opinions in a special thread just for you?
Where are these secret Rush shows happening? I want to go. Breweries: Jester King Live Oak Pinthouse Pizza Beer Bars: Craft Pride Bangers Bottle Shops: Whichcraft East 1st Grocery boom
Every couple of weeks there are one of these threads. They shouldn't be hard to find. Most people here are really helpful, and are glad to give advice if there is a specific question. We have just gotten tiered or repeating the same thing all the time
I'll be in Austin/San Antonio this weekend, and I've done a bit of research. From what I can gather, the breweries to check out in/around Austin are Pinthouse Pizza, Live Oak and Jester King. There are a bunch of others, but these three seem to be the most recommended. San Antonio I'm a little less confident on. Freetail? I don't know. I'll only be in San Antonio for an hour or two, otherwise will be in Austin the rest of the weekend, so focused my research there.
Jester king is a must, pinthouse either location can be great. I would suggest Zilker and Hops and Grain (very close to each other) and hit Sam up at East First market for a killer bottle selection while you are on the east side. As for bars Rainey street has Craft Pride and Bangers, two of the best Tap lists in town. If you make it north you should hit Adelberts, Austin Beer works and Oscar Blue's and might as well stop by Brass Tap in the Domain and say howdy to Delaney, he knows how to keep a tap wall!
