Hey downstaters. Thinking about hitting Rushing Duck around noon tomorrow on my way to New Haven. Any local BAs able to suggest what I try? Here's what they have on tap, according to their FB page:

On Tap: Naysayer Pale Ale, Beanhead Coffee Porter, Nimptopsical Ale, Kroovy Imperial Red IPA, De Levende Doden Belgian Porter w/ Cherries.

Why not try everything -- they are pretty generous with the samples. But, I love (loooooooove) Naysayer and the BeanHead. I haven't been up there for Kroovy or the De Levende yet.

Everything was good with a couple stand outs. I grabbed a growler of Naysayer. Looks like a great place with a great future.

In all honesty, they are all really good to great. If trying all of them is not practical, I'd go with your own personal tastes. Which styles do you enjoy the most hop forward or porters?

Has anyone tried that Belgian cherry porter -wow felt strange to put those words together - yet?

Has their stuff ever made it into NYC? I realize they are not very big and probably don't plan on moving into the NYC market anytime soon, but was curious if their beers have ever been available in NYC at any NY-state events, or beerfests and the like? Really want to try their beers.

I'm not sure on NYC, I have a vague recollection that Alewife may have had it before. They definitely make it into Westchester. Decicco's Ardsley lately has had one of thier beers for growler fills.

Hey guys. This is Dan from Rushing Duck. I stumbled across this thread so I thought I'd answer some questions...

With regard to NYC, so far we've only done three events, Pony Bar UES last Feb., Mission Dolores last spring, and an event on the Williamsburg Waterfront in Summer. We're also sending a couple casks to d.b.a Brooklyn for this weekend's (11/1-11/4) cask fest. http://gotham-imbiber.com/8williamsburg.pdf
As far as actual distribution, we are still too small to enter a mammoth market like NYC just yet. We are hoping to make some small increases to capacity in the next 6 months which should allow for us to make the leap though.

As far as bottles go, this run of Dog's Bollocks Barleywine will be brewery only, but we've been stockpiling barrels and our hope is to release it at least a few times a year in which case at least some of it would make it to wholesale markets. Also, now that we have our bottling system set up, we hope to release bottled beers with relative frequency. The next one bottled will be our Ded Moroz RIS in mid Dec. After that it's pretty TBD.

Hope this helps clear things up. Sorry for the long winded response. Cheers

Good to hear Dan! I wish I could make it this weekend, but I've got plans. Can't wait for Ded Moroz, I loved that beer last year.

Will they fill any growler? Or does it have to be theirs?
