So I was a little disappointed that @VikeMan 's stout poll did not elect to create an RIS. So I have decided to perform a similar poll myself. First thing I will poll is target OG. Open for 48 hours.

Well the BJCP specifiies 1.075 - 1.115 and I tend to like somewhere in the 1.090 - 1.098 range myself.

Good luck, sir. I hope you are as thorough as @VikeMan. With 2 fantastic threads already completed, you will be judged to that standard.

I voted for 1.100. It's enough to get that "non standard" abv and mouthfeel, but not so much that you need to do anything special with the yeast to ferment normally .

I went with 1.090 because it seems like a number that would be reasonable for those of us who haven't brewed a RIS yet, but still be big enough to be in range of what RIS's should be all about.

Went with 1.100 ... my two RISs ended up at 1.086 and 1.126, and were both a little too thin and way too sweet, respectively. 1.100 splits the difference nicely.

Okay so I took the weighted average and we get 1.099, pretty darn close to the majority of 1.100. Thus I feel comfortable accepting the majority choice of 1.100. I found taking a weighted average important in the event that people we were split between numbers that are further apart, i.e. 55% liked 1.120 and 45% liked 1.080, it wouldn't be right to simply pick 1.120 and call it quits. In our case however the data was clean, and I have no reservations about accepting the majority opinion of 1.100.

    1.100 it is.
