Nothing in that tweet says anything of the sort. All it says is that some of the Meridian Pint staff was at Russian River and were asking them to send kegs like they do for Philly. Am I missing something?
They're begging for Philly status which if granted would mean that we could potentially get Russian River brews on tap in DC. I was just posting this because it's exciting to think about that possibility, but it may not be highly likely. Sorry if that wasn't super clear.
Oh, yeah, it would be nice for you guys but nothing in that tweet even implies that. I'm sure lots of people want to be as cool as us in Philly.
Yeah, sadly this is pretty unlikely, at least on any sort of regular basis. Russian River just pulled out of Washington state because they couldn't meet the demand, so I can't imagine that they'll turn around and starting distributing to DC. Best case scenario: maybe RR lets the MP crew bring back a few kegs and put them on.
Yep. Exactly. DC being DC, anything is possible, and I think in the past there's been some leftover RR kegs floating around after some of the previous SAVOR events (if memory serves). So I could certainly see Vinny sending out some kegs for some special RR event at MP, but even that strikes me as not all that likely, given the fact that RR is having a difficult enough time keeping up with current demand in the places they actually do distribute.
Churchkey did a Russian River event last year that included a few tion beers, along with Pliny. It was as crowded as you would think it would be.
I was there and it was all bottles. Pliny took 15-20 minutes to sell out. And this was at noon on a Saturday I would of hated to see the crowd if it was in the late afternoon/evening. From what I remember they didn't promote it that much either and still got a big crowd.
Oh, I thought they had the IPA's on draft. My bad. I didn't go, no way I was going to try and be a part of that shitshow. Thanks for the clarification!
One thing I will say: ChurchKey events are 10x more insane than any event that any other bar in DC puts on. I'm not sure why that is exactly, but that's just how things go in this city. A Meridian Pint Russian River event would be pretty crowded, a ChurchKey Russian River event would have a line out the door and 2 blocks down the street.
