Can't say I disagree with how they are doing things this time around but I was hoping for a fall release.

    https://russianriverbrewing.com/blogs/news/beatification-2017-release

Today we are releasing our 2017 Beatification on DRAFT only at our brewpub in Downtown Santa Rosa! We debuted the latest batch of Beatification this past weekend at both the Firestone Invitational and Sierra Nevada's Beer Camp in San Francisco. This beer is unique in that we transfer the beer from the kettle into our koelschip which is a long, shallow, open-top tank in the barrel room. The beer sits overnight to collect all the ambient wild yeasts, or "bugs and critters", then is racked into used wine barrels for fermentation. Because no yeast is added to the beer, we call this process "spontaneous fermentation", or affectionately known to us as "Sonambic". Once Vinnie is satisfied with the beer, it is then bottled and kegged for conditioning (carbonation).

Beatification will be available at our pub on draft for on-premise enjoyment. Like all our sour beers there will be no growlers to go. The last time we had Beatification for about a month, so there is plenty of time to stop by and enjoy a glass or two! Bottles will be released "spontaneously" throughout the next several weeks 100 cases at a time. We have about 700 cases. There will be a 6 bottle limit per person at $20 per bottle. The chalkboard on our website shows all current releases including bottles. The only announcement we will make is updating our chalkboard the morning of a release. Not even our staff will know until that morning if bottles will be available. We are a brewpub first and need to be considerate to our guests who are merely coming to enjoy their beer and pizza. That said, it will be possible for us to host a more celebratory event at our new brewery in Windsor where we will have much more space and 2 acres of FREE parking! We feel this is the best way to ensure that everyone has the same opportunity to enjoy a world-class customer experience at Russian River Brewing Company! A spontaneous release for a spontaneous beer!

Not much into sour beers? We have something for you, too! Row 2, Hill 56 is back after a brief hiatus, along with Tempo Change, one of our newer IPA's. And I just learned that HopFather IPA has been brewed and is coming very soon! Stay tuned....

    Cheers-

    Natalie

It's pretty cool that they don't want the clusterfuck this time around. Mad props for that.

Sucks for those of us that were willing to drive up for it. Great for locals who can now end up with 7 allotments instead of 1 lol.

It's a novel release style but what you said is undeniably true - the locals will have all of it. I think they think they will ultimately get more patrons this way but I would doubt it. I can't think of anyone who would plan a special trip out there based on luck? Sucks because my brother and I had been waiting for years for a Beatification road trip and I'm guessing we're not the only ones.

Into it. Last release was utterly miserable.

Plenty of beer I don't get to buy because its randomly released to locals.
It doesn't belong to anyone's human rights to be able to get every beer.

Yeah I'm glad they are doing it like this even if it means I won't have a shot. I was hoping for another fall release because I was probably going to drive up but it's all good.

Yeah I'm not really complaining about it. Every style if release is going to benefit some people more than others and this will benefit their restaurant/taproom from having multiple surges in traffic instead of one.

Love the random release. Wonder if they'll have people waiting everyday just to see if there are bottles a la the people camped out in front of Monkish waiting for the tweet to go out.

I'd pay for a case to be dropped off at my front door. I wish I lived near Russian River, I'd stop by everyday that Beatification is released to pick up my limit and have a few on draft.

Anyone there? Is it madness? If I leave orange County now can I still get bottles?

Picked up bottles this afternoon, no wait.
Had a pour on draft, IMO it's not ready yet. Low carb, not very bright yet, no funk. Honestly not remarkably far along from the "in process" tasters offered at Rate Beer fest 5 months ago.

I'm sure it'll probably land somewhere nice, but don't understand the rush to get it out.

A few people in line at 4. Still a decent stack of cases. Tastes good, but young.

Thanks for sharing the info. Were you by chance there at the 5:30 hour or so (maybe you hung around for a bit and went inside for drinks) to get a sense of how much was left or how many people were there then?

Just left... grabbed two plus had a half pour. I've never had it before but I understand why others have said it was young. Tasted great but lacks the complexity I'm pretty sure it'll have eventually. Was not a zoo, no one in line. No clue how much they had left.

I was there at 530. I didn't see how much they had, but we were seated near the entrance and there was never more than a few people in line.
