Now that younger 2022 is winding down we move on to RRBC’s other offerings & a proper thread.
I’m on my last Pig in a can. Still have 2 ddh Pliny cans left. Hope to see these 2 again soon. Okay so I hoped & predicted Blind Pig in cans, I would like to see Pliny in cans next. Maybe in a few years this will happen. And why not? [IMG]

Russian River are so 2006-They need to get with the times and put the fruit puree in their IPAs instead of their barrel aged sours.

Also, I'm really excited to try their new 25th anniversary 4-pack and modern Defenestration!

Do they make imperial stouts? I've seen a porter called Shadow or someshit but it was 7% ...thats not me

I don't think they've made any imperial stouts. I've certainly never seen one. And honestly, their dark beers have never impressed me much

Shadow of a Doubt is a 9.6% Imperial Porter - I quite enjoyed it (much more than the brown beer or regular porter I've tried from them), but it is definitely not a stout.

It's definitely 9.6%. That was my last Russian River bottle I purchased and it hit hard.

Russian River related question - I am heading up to Santa Rosa next month (have never been there) with my wife. If I get her to spend an afternoon at Russian River, I am likely going to need to take her to a nice dinner the night before. So, any recommendations for a "can't miss" restaurant in the area?

    Thanks!

Russian River Windsor. And no, this is not a joke. Their OG Santa Rosa brewpub is nice, but Windsor is fancy.

Thanks - that's where we're going to be on Saturday for the member party, so was thinking something for Friday night.

I mean, you're in wine country, so the area is literally teeming with great restaurants, and that's just in the Sonoma county area. So it's tough to answer your post. When you say "nice," what exactly are we talking about? For that matter, how far are you willing to drive? As good as the Sonoma area is, I would argue that Calistoga (over in Napa), has even better restaurants. It's not a huge drive to get there from Santa Rosa, but it's still a good 30 to 45 minutes (depending on traffic).

Anyway, Healdsburg is very close to Windsor, so you could always take her to the Dry Creek kitchen. It's a bit spendy, but should do the trick for you I would think. If that's too much of a good thing, the wife and I have always been happy with the cafe citti. It's much more low key and inexpensive, but food is still pretty good. Happy to provide additional suggestions if that's not the sort of restaurants you're looking for.

Thanks, I won't have a car so I was hoping for something in Santa Rosa. Doesn't have to be fancy I was just wondering if there was somewhere anyone highly recommended

Flying in and out if Santa Rosa in a couple weeks for a long weekend trip, I already told the wifey we’ll need to stop by RRBC at some point and didn’t get an argument… so I consider that a win already!

It's been a decade, but Flavor Bistro was great when I last ate there.

Assuming you're talking about the restaurant just up the block and across the street from the RR brewpub, I completely agree. Great food at reasonable prices, and with various Moonlight beers on tap. Unfortunately, the Santa Rosa version went belly up some years ago. There's now a version up in Sebastopol, which I'm assuming is probably too far away for the OP.

Then Cafe Citti should be right up your alley. The Kenwood version was featured on DDD several years ago, if you're interested in learning more about the place. It's nothing fancy, but the food is pretty good. I would often take my wife and friends there, to take advantage of the gentle pricing and no corkage fee policy. In the past, they always had several RR beers on tap as well (PtE, blind pig and a couple of other RR offerings).

Was also going to recommend the Willowside cafe, but damn if it doesn't appear they've gone belly up as well. Anyway, if you want something a bit more refined and high end, there's La Gare and John Ash. Depends on how big a splurge you're willing to make to placate and impress your wife.

Is the store for online beer shipping down? Or just on hiatus right now?

4.4 quake just a couple of miles from Santa Rosa. Not that big by California standards, but could still cause some damage. I hope everyone in the area is safe and sound.
