Is rr over hyped or is it really that good? I've not had the opportunity to try any of it.

They make great beers. The ones to try are Pliny the Elder and their Sours.

It is a bit overhyped in the sense that Pliny isn't that much, if at all, better than some of the other DIPAs currently available. Their sours, while awesome, are nothing that will blow your mind if you've had a Rodenbach or Drie Fonteinen before.

Now don't get me wrong, they are still a world class brewery with a stellar lineup, but there are plenty of other breweries out there that also have a stellar lineup, some of which I'm sure you have access to already (CCB comes to mind right away).

RR makes some of the best sours in America, imo. I think they can be a bit pricey at times, but I always enjoy a good RR brew.

Would they set up this kind distro just to do a one-off of a PtY keg?

I highly, highly doubt it. But it would be cool!

Can we close this thread already? I get sooo pissed each time it gets bumped. I keep clicking on it expecting good news, but no, same crap about RR not coming. Meh

Seems like if this was true, it's something that would have been mentioned in Natalie's monthly blog release. Also, given that RR can barely keep up in the markets they currently serve, this seems like an odd time for them to start distributing to a new market, especially one as large as Florida. As others have mentioned, their last brewery expansion occurred only a few years back (2008 as I recall), and my understanding is that there are no plans to expand further at this time.

    In other words... fat chance!

I heard they'll start distributing to Florida as soon as their secret, second brewery in Asheville, NC is up and running.

Brother BA let me say that Russian River makes some of the most complex, delicious, mesmerizing beers you will ever pour into a glass of your choice and imbibe upon. Pliney is probably the most perfect IPA I have ever experienced (IMO) and will rock the tap on draft. Their take on Wild Yeast Belgian style beers are some top notch brews and the rarity of them I am sure adds to their mystique. So the short answer is "YES", you must definitely go on the hunt and experience them. I know they can be found in the Philadelphia area and usually rotate through the taps at Monks Cafe in Philly (a MUST to experience in itself).I am a former East Coaster (Tidewater VA) and made the 6 hour drive up regularly to pick them up. I now live in Arizona and drive to California ( a much shorter 2-3 hour drive) to pick them up. Good luck with the search. Enjoy and Cheers!
