Can it be bought in the city only? Just looking for some info on where to get some? Is it just Pliny or other stuff? Looking for bottles travel with
No IPAs in bottles, just sours, blondes, and whatever else is around. Bottles are available in the area surrounding Philly. Not sure how far out they get but they definitely get to the suburbs.
Elder is only available on draft in/around Philly when RRB ships it out this way. There are places that fill growlers of it as I know a customer of mine who got one, though I forget which bar it was. Try Pinocchio's in Media as they had the Sour and Wild Ale bottles. I picked up Supplication there about a month ago and they 2 others, one I'm pretty sure was Damnation and I forget what the other was.
I went looking around for RR when I was in Philly this past weekend and all I could find in stores was Damnation. Monk's had Pliny on tap though, and I grabbed a bottle of Consecration there as well.
My friend is at the Marriott downtown near public market. He agreed to grab a couple bottles for me is he close to a bottle shop? Or is Philly one of those cities that has bottle sales in bars
You can generally buy bottles to go at most/many bars, but there are also plenty of bottle shops where you can buy bottles and 6 packs to go as well (Hawthornes, Foodery, etc.). Increasingly, you can also buy bottles and 6 packs at certain grocery stores (Wegmans, whole foods, etc). Anyway, if your friend is staying near the public market downtown, then he shouldn't be all that far from Hawthorne's. So maybe have him go there?
They also have Pliny on right now, if that interests him. And Blind Pig (I think, too lazy to check).
Hawthorne's is the place where my customer got a growler of Elder. I couldn't think of it off the top of my noggin.
