Sunday I’m flying into Philly and spending the day there before heading out west for work. Are there any spots where I can find Russian River Brewing? Preferably a bottle shop so I can take it to my hotel with me. Also I plan to hit up Tired Hands on my drive west too. No idea what they’ll actually have for me to try. Thank you in advance.
Monks Cafe typically has a hoppy beer on draft and bottles for on-site. Check phillytapfinder.com for more places with RR on draft. For sours to take home: The Foodery locations, Bottle bar east, beer heaven, the beer shoppe. I will try to think of more. - Joe
@ajfa531 is right, you should be able to find RR at the Foodery for sure, I used to get it there all of the time. Unfortunately you'll pay a price - their price! A better solution, and a much nicer place I think, is the Beer Yard in Wayne, 6.5 miles up the road from Tired Hands (about 18 minutes by car). They have an amazing selection, and if you want to make sure you'll get the RR you can call them and ask what they have and they'll put it aside for you.
I was in Philly a couple of weeks ago, and this joint had Temptation, Supplication, and Consecration bottles: http://www.therichmondshops.com/bottle-shop.html (i think Temptation was $10 or so, and the others were $15?)
Went over to Beer Yard. It was a great spot. A ton of beers and a great selection. Thanks for the heads up. I tried to find Monks Cafe but it didn’t work out. I don’t like looking like a tourist and holding my phone out for directions. So when I got lost a lovely female seeing I was wearing a UMaine hat asked if I was a Patriots fan. She then proceeded by sending me in the wrong direction.
yeah thats kind of funny but also sad... sorry... monks is pretty easy to find.. it's not off the beaten path... can always hop into a store and pull out your phone next time as to not look like a tourist or something... idk what to tell you there...
Oh man. I think I wanna make the trip down from NYC (I need to use some Amtrak points by this summer anyway). Any guesses as to how early people will start lining up?
My experience is that no one in the Philly area gets more Younger than Monk's (if that is what you want to drink) and there is no need to get their before they open. I usually show up about 1:30.
