Might not be a bad thing for us perhaps, but for the owners perhaps it might be.

Here's one way to think about the problem they face. Would you give up being a Pastor in order to make more money and manage a business?

Can I be the first to complain that the ____________ they brew in the new location sucks compared to when it was brewed at the location.
Hey Vinnie thanks for letting greed ruin a great beer.

It seems as though you are perceiving that a third party has acquired them and is going to brew their beer, or that them moving would cause a similar loss of quality. As Vinnie has said over and over and over...quality is his and the brewery's highest concern. They just invested in a brand new brewing system, so this will be moving wherever they go (aka they would be brewing the exact same beer with the same stuff). If the Cilurzo's were greedy they would have sold out years ago.

I went there one time on Vacation with a Local Guide.

I will never go back, worst brewpub I have ever been too.

Save your money and time and see the Sierra Nevada one. Matter of fact spend most of a week at Sierra Nevada and see and try everything.

Yes, this is good news. But after reading the article, it sounds like what's going to happen is that there's going to be 2 Russian River brewpubs that are packed to the gills.

6-pack Pliny would be the best beer news of the year. Unfortunately, they have no motivation to do so...I bet they would just keg more

The traffic lane comparison was spot on. As craft beer grows, Pliny's legend (and the brewery's in general) grows along with it. It's actually sort of odd considering the number of high quality DIPAs that most people can get locally. I was just at El Segundo Brewing Company a few hours ago and they have a handful that are at least in the same ballpark, not to mention a TIPA to boot.

I suppose it has rightfully cemented its place in beer lore and nothing will change that. It makes me fear that my favorite local breweries will someday be overrun by non-locals though.

Yes, I have noticed that! I was thinking of changing my name to Captain Spaulding (my favorite of their movies)

After you get in bar is open seating. Put your name in and then hover at bar for an opening. Worst case scenario you drink some great beer while waiting

I'd be all for this. I went by almost a year ago in June on my way up to Oregon, saw the line out the door and went, "yeah, I'm good." I ended up going up to Bear Republic and had Tartare and Tartare Rouge so I had my sour fix. Mind you, this was on a Tuesday at like 3pm, I'm too old for this, "wait in line so I can say I've been there" business.

RR does make killer beer, but I'm sure most people would like to see an expansion, at least in the seating/pub.

They already pulled out of washington. I could only imagine them maybe going back, and perhaps more pliny come 3rd thursday of the month deliveries.

I'm a local and I use to go about once a month and would always try to take people who were visiting from out of town.

Russian River was the brewery that got me to like beer. However it's always been about 50/50 on whether the staff is ok or bad, and almost every time they got some aspect of our order wrong, which I understand due to the crowds. The wait has gotten to be too much though, and for years I've said they needed to expand, but Vinnie and Natalie have repeatedly said in the past they had no interest and were fine with how things are.

I'm glad they are finally looking into it, and maybe I'll be able to go more often. I just hope the new location has better staff.

Now that we've established that I should be using your avatar, your comments are right on. And Pliny isn't the only thing that has cemented its place in lore. There are dozens of products that are nothing like they were but for their name and reputation. That's why when businesses are sold, "good will" is part of the price. As far as new breweries being as good as established ones that you can't get near, that's also true. But don't forget that the established breweries were new as well and didn't have the following they now do, partly due to the reputation that they've built over the years. The article backs this up when is quotes locals who remember the days when they could just walk in and sit down at Russian River. For better or worse, it's often called progress and those who don't embrace it will seek out new and different places and by so doing, perpetuate the growth of craft beer.

Well said. There will probably be a time when the hype dies down, but maybe not. It's not like they are brewing one-offs every month trying to stay with the trends. Gotta respect them for that. It will be interesting to see what happens when the second generation of ownership takes over. They could see green
