Russian River - Pliny The Younger (2014)

Man I wish I could try some of this.

 

wonder how slammed the lines going to be on a Wednesday? we where thinking about getting there around 11:30 now i'm thinking about leaving a few hours earlier because of the line.

 

I am fortunate enough to travel to Sonoma Co. multiple times a year for work. After finding out that my latest trip there was going to happen last week, I was super bummed to be missing out on PtY, but damn, if it's anywhere near the shit-show it seems like it is, I'm glad to be missing out.

I'll take an easy seat at the bar for a few PtEs and Row 2s over a multiple hour wait in line any day. God speed to you brave souls.

 

I wouldn't drink in line if I could - if I ever wait hours in line for a beer, I sure as hell am going to be dead sober when I take that first glorious sip.

 

If you can find fresh Simtra, just sip that and tell yourself it's Younger. Most folks would probably not be able to tell the difference.

 

Sneak a bottle into a Younger event and have side by side.

Or bring a case of Simtra to a Younger event line, fill it into plastic cups, sell it as Younger at $10 a pint....

 

I thought of both of these ideas already

 

My plan is to get there by 7am Friday morning. Hoping I can get in by about 1-1:30pm, but we will see just how crazy it is !

 

Question, I'm flying in for work this Saturday and won't get up to Santa Rosa until about 3pm. Is there any chance of me getting in and getting some PtY that day? If not, will I still be able to get in at some point that night to enjoy their other beers and buy some bottles? Thanks!

 

Save time. Unless you want to fulfil your "rite of passage" and pay homage to the great RRBC directly (and wait in a super long line), I recommend just going to The Bistro in Hayward @ 11:00 AM on Saturday Feb, 8th. As always, they'll have PtY and about 29 other Triple IPAs as well as 50 Double IPAs. Kern River Citra is there most of the time, Drakes Hopocalypse Black Label and so many other great beers. It's a fantastic day & so much FUN!

 

Who is tapping younger in the south bay?

 

Lets see...can't have a smoke in line, can't have a beer in line...but there's a line, a long one and the waits multiple hours? Remind me again what my motivation is. I am sure the beer is epic...but...

 

Two years ago, I waited 1.5 hours in line on a Saturday at noon, gave up and went to the awesome Whole Foods tap room. I told the bartender where I was and he immediately gave me a Simtra sample.

 

For sure, I didn't pick an arbitrary 3xIPA to make a joke. Whenever my trading buddies ask about PtY, I make sure to send them a Simtra if I can find it fresh (which is hard to do in the bay area). I'd love the opportunity to have the two side by side. I might even prefer Simtra.

 

No joke on fresh Simtra. You'd never guess the alcohol content based on it's wonderful flavor. I feel like a stooge sometimes as I'm about 40 minutes from the brewery in Auburn and own growlers of theirs. Might be due for a short road trip. Problem is I'll drink an entire growler in the course of an evening. I'm happy, but my liver not so much!

 

Too bad there isn't a time machine. I had a growler in 2010 and drank it by myself in about 45 minutes. 14 beers in 45 minutes, oops. Stuff is too good though. IMO #2 behind Ephraim, about tied with Abner, maybe ever so slightly better.

 

Bring your rain gear if you're coming to Santa Rosa this weekend. North Bay is supposed to get 3"-7" of rain from Friday-Monday.

 

if i'm waiting in a long line i could use a beer. especially at the DMV

 

The Med in Hermosa Beach usually gets a keg but you have to check their website for when they release it
