I agree with you completely and I just don't get it. It's almost the same mentality as people who go to events that you know are just going to be packed. New Years Eve in Times Square, etc. They don't care, others and I am one them, want nothing to do with stuff like that. Will not subject myself to it.

I go to multiple PtY events every year and most people, who try PtY for the first time, realize they prefer PtE.

RR needs to ship a keg out here to Hawaii. There might be 10 folks in line.

Walked into City Beer Store yesterday for some Row2Hill56. Noticed some of their drafts were marked as "A" through "E". The couple next to my wife and I were having all 5 letter beers. I asked about it. It was a blind DIPA/TrIPA test and the answers were just revealed. So, my wife and I proceeded to order 2 glasses each of D aka PtY. Cost was $5 for 7oz. No lines, no tickets, no tokens...just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Third time having it and it was better than I recall.

The City Beer Store tasting was really cool and was completely double-blind because only one person in the bar knew which beers were on which tap. D was indeed the Younger and B was Iron Springs Compulsory, which was my favorite of the lineup before the unveiling. It was great way to sample some amazing to DIPA/TrIPAs and I was wishing I had more time to enjoy another round of PtY and Compulsory.

Gouged? It was a cash event with all the proceeds going to charity.

They have a web page: http://www.monkscafe.com/events.cfm

'We will once again be raising money for Alex's Lemonade Stand. I have set an extremely high goal of $25,000 for this one-day event. Remember that sales are all CASH ONLY! 100% of the money from our draft beer will be donated directly to Alex's. Rare beers to be raffled with 100% of those funds going directly to the charity. C'mon Philly - let's show 'em what this great city is made of...give me all your money & I'll give it all to this very worthy charity."

Fyi for all CA peeps there will be some kegs of epic proportion making there way to Burgers n Brew in Sacramento and 2 PM today. Includes Pliny the younger, DFH 120, Abyss, Firestones XVII and many more!

Sadly I probably will not make it down there in time if anyone makes the trip drink one for me and cheers!

So I totally scored today at Burgers and Brew. We're sitting about 40-50 deep in the line waiting for Pliny the Younger. Lines opened up at 2:00 figured I'd play it by ear and if the lines moved slow I'd just get in the "food line" and grab a DFH 120. So after 15 minutes of no line moveage we go to the other line and get right in. When were about the 3rd person in line this guy (manager, owner? I dunno) says to me. This line will serve Younger to! I'm like "well that was a total score there's 100+ people outside getting drownded. Another guy comes by and says "no this is the line for younger ticket holders" which is fine because I didn't expect any in this line anyways. Original guy comes back and says "well since I told you that.. I'm going to get you a younger" talks to the people at the register and it's a done deal, along with a DFH 120! They were both delicious and I'm glad I got to try it again, until next year!
