    The short answer is YES.

I think it's a great thing for good beer that quite a few breweries have established that they will only produce this much beer, or be distributed within this sort of footprint. That is a great thing for "craft" beer and its fans, and its consumers.
Russian River is certainly not the only brewery in the U.S. to decide they will not be expanding any further than they what feel comfortable with.
Where it gets problematic is that it also raises the stakes because beer tourism is a very real phenomena and what bothers me in threads like this is that the entitled beer fans think that breweries should be everything to all of their wants and needs while skipping the fact that running a brewery can be and IS a very time consuming job and also a very cost intensive business.
This idea that breweries will cater to a tiny footprint and produce as much beer as that tiny footprint can drink and make them a comfortable living is the past; the future; and also present tense of certain aspects of "craft" brewing.
Bigger is not always better. It becomes a burden on a good many business models and also a pain in the ass for a good many personalities and what their philosophies about beer and ideas in selling it are.
There are always times in which a popular hangout is dead and you can walk right in and get what you want. But with sites like these, and beer tourism mixing in with local popularity, it is not as easy to do as it once was.
