It would seem a bit silly for bottle shops to release the beer before Fremont - though it might curtail some folks from lining up on the 9th. Oh, who am I kidding? They'll still line up to get even more.

The release is going to be madness, glad some bottles are making it to distribution. Fremont has done a great job in the past and I expect nothing less for this and future releases. Everything will be fine peeps.

I'm trying to remember where I heard the 29th, specifically. I'm pretty sure it was on this thread but I'm too damn tired to go back through all 6 pages.

Yes, it was on this thread, a few pages back. One of the (few) advantages to being relatively young is decent recall...most of the time, anyway.

But the 29th has come and gone, and Rusty is still under lock and key, as it should be until the UBG release. Obviously, those who reported that date got bad information, or it subsequently changed (because of the labeling or other issues). The beer, however, will definitely be available in a week's time, and those most eager to get some shall surely have their chances then and in the days and weeks to follow. I just hope they're respectful, you know, of others...

I like your post until the last sentence. I found it patronizing and unnecessary. I have never been to a beer geek event that wasn't respectful, you know, of others. Craft beer lovers are great!

Think I'm just gonna crack open a dark star and save myself the trouble of trying to acquire this hyped up beer. Can't imagine its much better (if at all) considering dark star is nearly perfect in my opinion. Hope everybody gets it that wants it. I'm sure it will be on draft around Seattle in the future at select bars/events, it already was being poured to the public at the WA brewers fest. I'll try it someday with little effort, just not going crazy trying to find it around town. I'm sure it will be a fun time at the release though.

I'm sorry to offend. I didn't mean to malign craft beer events or the craft beer community. On the contrary, I find these things, on the whole, great--just like you. Otherwise, why would I be here on this site, and in relatively good humor (at least most of the time)?

All I was referring to were those people who by hook or by crook will acquire more than their "fair share" (by bringing mules to releases, by chasing trucks or tracking down every bottle they can find in distribution, etc...). These people are not in the majority by any means, but they do exist, and they make it harder for others. We may disagree on this, but I don't find this sort of behavior terribly great or respectful. In fact, if the craft beer community has a flaw--and everything does--I'd put this at the top of the list.

So, I worked a 12 hour day last Saturday, and ended up with a bit of tip cash in my pocket. I went and had a couple beers at one bar, left there, and decided to stop in at a "college" bar here in town that generally has a good, and sometimes surprisingly good, tap list. On their bottle list, were both '14 & '15 B-Bombs. I got one of each to go. Hopefully, by stopping in a bit more often now that the scholars are gone for the summer, I'll stumble across this brew the same way. Maybe throw it in as an extra in the next NBS BIF.

Aha. I see what you're doing. Trying to drum up local interest in the next BIF.

To each their own, OG Rusty Nail from 2013/14 was/is the second best Fremont beer produced (Old Bridge Rider still retains the top spot IMO), and the release (IIRC, randomly put out for sale in the middle of the week) was awesome in that there were no lines, it was Limit One (which allowed for folks to get off work to grab a bottle before they were gone), and certain individuals well-known in the community at the time didn't have enough notice to gather together a host of mules to grab a good number of bottles for themselves. I fear that this weekend release will bring out a bit of the 'darker' sides of the community, but am hopeful that the reports coming out after the release will be overwhelmingly positive.

I doubt it'll be bigger than holy mountain for midnight still, though there was an epic bs.

Should be shipping to some locations next week. I anticipate the release to be madness. Casey said they have it planned out well, but we shall see. I don't plan on making it down but I'm sure plenty will.

For some reason, I thought the release was last Saturday and didn't stress over attending. Is there really any point standing in line, unless the brewery specifically says it will be an onsite release only (a.k.a. Holy Mountain and others)?

Again, nothing wrong with attending these releases for those looking to have a good time.

At least four businesses have openly stated they expect to get an allotment: Both Chucks Hop Shops, Kens Market, and Brigids Bottle Shop. Therefore, I'd bet all the usual suspects get a few bottles as well: Beer Junction, Bottleworks, Full Throttle, etc.

I would expect to see some make it into the market but not nearly in the quantities that BBOMB and Dark Star variants have been distributed. Spots that got stacks of previous releases will certainly get some Rusty Nail, I just wouldn't expect to see much of it.

I'm going. I like shit-shows. Remember, old people don't get out much. Besides, I might see someone I know.
If you see an old guy without walker or oxygen tank (I'm not there yet) say hi.

It depends. Brew 1000 was distrod, but it was a pain to get as most places were doing 1pp or upping the cost, and even saying they didn't have any when I knew people who grabbed one from the place (holding off for certain folks). That release sold out at the pub in a few hours and I have no idea if they made more of that than rusty. I honestly think that distroing these one off's or rarely made brews is stupid. They should be at the pub only that way people aren't getting screwed with inflated pricing, driving all around trying to snag one, and it allows locals ( I use this lightly) and people who normally support the brewery to have something special.
