This geographic subset of the internet tends to look less kindly on that 'get it while the gettin's good, everyone else can fend for themselves' mentality that some see as being the harbinger of the loss of the soul of our shared hobby.
The preferred approach (at least as professed on these here forums) is more of the, 'sure I'll take what I "need," but I'll leave some for my fellow man' idealism that is requisite for an advanced society to truly blossom.
As a region, there had been a point of pride in doing things differently than the "fucktacular shitstorm" that has engulfed so much of 'those other guys' out there, and there has been great consternation at the fact that we seem to be losing that camaraderie and sense of community.

But fuck it: Greed Is Good, right? Wasn't that the take home lesson of the 80s?

Note: you should educate your mule friends about what the beers are ahead of time...

Some guy who amassed 8 was explaining to his friend, GF and friend's GF what the beer was as he was taking Instagram shots of all his bottles in the UBG.

In happier news, as I was buying my personal allotment the awesome Fremont employees brought out a few more cases so the last few people in line could buy some. That was really nice of them.

So maybe that isn't as awesome as I thought. People who were asked to leave the line as they wouldn't get bottles ended up seeing people behind them in line walk out with the bottles pulled out of the back at the last minute. That sucks.

yep, i stood w/ my Rusty pour in hand, and watched as people that were previously behind me in line (after we were told 'no more bottles') walked out w/ their bottle allotments. awesome. and by awesome, i mean not awesome... hell, i woulda been completely satisfied w/ one bottle, instead other wankers grabbed six, eight, maybe even a full case. WTF.

In a turn of events, was told they had more bottles then the line was cutoff at. Back in line and got my three bottles.

I guessing they pulled cases that were going to sent out for distribution.

Skipped the line to take my kid and her visiting cousins to Pacific Science Center. Accepting sympathy trades in the IP forum.

A completely bungled bottle release... So now what? They tell a bunch of people in line 'no more bottles', and now they're actively pulling bottles from distro, so my chances of getting it via distro are also being reduced in real-time? LOLZ.

Anyone that used a mule today can burn in hell. I missed the last of the Rusty by just a couple. I even left work early, so it basically cost me $60 to not get any. I miss Thursday releases. Sad panda. I'll drown my sorrows in my last KDS.

Hey now, it's just my uneducated guess. I have nothing to back it up with. Don't go back down to the UBG with pitchforks cause of me.

A memorable release for me. This will be the first Fremont beer that I stopped by on the day of the release and got nada. Sounds like the shape of things to come. Gratz to those who scored 6+ bottles. Enjoy.

That's super irritating. When they said there weren't enough bottles for everyone, I too was one of those who decided not to continue standing in line for supposedly nothing. Ultimately my position now is no different than it was before, and I still love Fremont, but that's poor communication at best.

    Also:
They upped it to three bottles?
Hell, the guy behind me in line was trying to convince one of the employees they should cut it to just one in the future!

I suppose my biggest disappointment is that I — someone that lives in the neighborhood, and generally loves Fremont Brewing and the beers they put out — can't walk down to the UBG, on the day of the release, shortly after they open, and at least get one bottle. Meanwhile, some asshat in Florida, or the dreaded midwest, will be crackin' that very same bottle in the not-too-distant future. Consider me bummed out.

Very similar to my thoughts. Sure, I could have headed down and gotten into line at 9am or whatever, but this release is just another reminder that all the talk and geniality that we pretend to pride ourselves on is nothing but that: talk.

We're just another midwest release line. Hell, if half our beer is going to end up out there anyway, may as well just embrace it. I just wanted to take my dog for a nice walk down to the brewery and sip something delicious while reading a book, and happened to wait until -- god forbid! -- a full 60 minutes after the doors opened to do so, when I'd finished up with my chores and the like.
Beer is to be enjoyed and respected, not second-hand commodified and abused.
Or maybe I'm just tired and cranky. I AM officially an old man now after all...

The only thing leaving a bitter taste in your mouth should be the alpha acids!!

Mishandled yes. Especially at the end when people were turned away just to have later comers get some bottles. But the cases you saw weren't necessarily full and not all Rusty. Bottles of 1st Nail were probably mixed in there also.

I just hope that @Texwild and Fremont learn from this release. Draft and bottles on the same side was not smart. Only two people ringing up bottles, not smart. And if you really want to give more people the chance to try something, do a silent release or send it all out to distro. Announcing a Saturday release only give the hoarders a chance to mule up (see above posts!) I got my bottles, just barely. Mid way through line I was asking myself if this was really worth it. I am still undecided. :astonished:
