Don't forget your daughter. She's not safe up here with the rest of us Muggles. :slight_frown:

We'll try to get the ship righted as soon as possible, but I fear it's going to be an uphill battle before November...

November is BCBS season. The thread about last years batch will still likely be going strong, and there will be 11,276,861,991,436 threads about this years batch by the time @draheim comes up to check on his rainshadow.

Man, I'm sad I didn't get to meet draheim in person. I looked ahead of me in line but no luck.

I would think they sold a hellluva lot of beer of all stripes. Certainly that was the case locally, back when Jones Radiator (R.I.P.) was seemingly the unofficial pub for Iron Goat, lots of other beers were consumed waiting for special releases to be officially released, culminating in the infamous, utter shitshow of intoxication that was the Goatorhead release.

Right. But, comparing the numbers from next Saturday to this Saturday, I suspect the number will be larger for release weekend. As it should be, that's the reason for putting on an "event". @ewendel suggested that we here, on a beer website, talk less about these releases, which is the opposite of what a brewery wants. They want us talking and posting about these things. It's just life. And business.

True, but that's not the season I had in mind. Rather, it's one far more consequential.

Me too, even though I didn't dare brave the Rusty release. If everyone was like what @draheim seems to be, none of us would ever need to retreat into underground bunkers.

Batch one was epic. Curious how my bottle is holding up. Some Seattle sports team needs to win a championship so I can open mine.

    Thanks, Hawks.

This was especially helpful and instructive. Thanks for putting everyone else, and particularly those who have loved Fremont for years and just happened to miss out on Batch 1 into their shameful place. No doubt the same (or very similar) recipe, given even more time in the barrel, and with advanced knowledge for the brewery, has resulted in a crappier beer. That makes ample sense, and we'll look forward to further privileged insights from such an omniscient source.

Its kind of sobering to read this thread, I had always hoped us beer guys up here were immune from this type of frenzy.
    Apparently not.
I hope this is not the beginning of the end of our great unassuming beer culture, i dont want it to be like back East. :slight_frown:

These kind of lines are nothing new in the Northwest. Just rare. Some HotD dock releases, Upright, PtY (a stretch I know) Reuben's, Holy Mountain come to mind

Sounds like Seattle has finally, and sadly, turned into Chicago for purposes of folks going after super-rar-OMG-Limit-One-Or-Two-Trade-Bait-For-Dayz-Bro releases. This has been coming for several years (it started building in earnest around 2013-14) and unfortunately, it won't get much better for a little while, until supply catches up with demand and there are a lot more of these beers produced. (Trust me, it will happen, and things will slowly settle down). It has already started to happen here in Chicago - folks are not going after each-and-every-collect-em-all-release-or-FOMO and producers are making more of everything, and there is, quite frankly, a lot more available of a particular style (for better or worse) out there for folks to 'tick'.

What will start to happen thereafter is simple economics: more supply = increased met demand which leads to a drop in 'trade-value-for-dayz-bro' and the leeches on the fringes of the community decide it's not 'profitable' enough, and the beer gets into the hands of more people who actually want to drink it.

Hang in there folks, it will get better eventually, and cheers to those who kept with it in line and got bottles, and for the rest, don't give up 'hope' for the 'tick'. The Seattle community is awesome and no doubt you'll have a chance in the near future to grab a pour from a bottle at one of the myriad of awesome shares that take place on the regular out there.
