The only people who wouldn't like it are the mulers/hoarders/traders. For the brewery, why not sell a few extra of a flagship? For both the superfan and casual fan of a brewery, they likely wouldn't mind having a few extra of a beer that is probably appearing with some level of regularity in their rotation anyway.

That's my general thoughts too. So, I am hoping a brewery will speak up. Why not do this?

People often frown on bottle shops that require people to buy "shelf beer" in order to get the new release. Would this be any better?

There's never going to be a solution that pleases everyone.

Approaching this from a business standpoint, what reasons do they have to stop any of this? They are selling all of the beer they produce, most of it from their own taproom where I'd assume profit margins are higher, and the "trade value" is basically free advertising that further increases demand. Many of these lines are for beers never released before, and they can still sell every last drop in a day based on name alone. Just wait for the Fremont/Perennial collab, might as well start pre-trading that for some beach-front property.

Re: Posting about Rusty spottings in the wild:

Please just let people find them, casually and serendipitously--inasmuch as that's possible--on their own.* Haven't we fed the beast enough already?

(*I'd make a direct messaging exception for anyone I knew who waited in line on Saturday, and got shut out.)

Hopefully the mule traders won't take this opportunity to fatten their hoards. (And no, I couldn't type that without cracking myself up.)

I see that the post has been deleted.

I have no interest in getting more bottles, but I am curious how much stores are getting.

I thought maybe I broke a board rule because the post was deleted. Then again, I was trying to edit it from an Android phone utilizing the desktop version of BA. The mobile Android app hasn't worked since the update.

Anyhow, two smaller Seattle grocers recieved one case each (not sure if it's 12 bottles or 24). A different larger retailer didnt provide this information. So I assume most places will get either one or two cases. One case being the norm.

I have to visit a few Costcos this week and highly doubt to see any there.

KDS sits on the shelves in Seattle year-round. We have, what, 40+ breweries in Seattle? And hundreds across the PNW? Why should anyone care about Rusty Nail? Y’all are wilding out about nothing. Let people care too much. I’ll be over here, drinking all the other stuff.

Eh, we're people. People talk about silly shit sometimes. Often. Usually. Mostly.

but are we really going to succumb to the hype train? i thought we've all agreed we have an embarrassment of riches and life is too short. and love, or something.

Isn't that what everyone says? I think this one is well balanced which the first wasn't but still great. Its subjective.

A case is 12 bottles. That's about what I figured. Thanks!

Quite content with my one bottle (gave my second to a friend who was out of town over the weekend).

Mules, Hype, mild-frustration, 200 person lines. Through no fault of their own, Fremont appears to have had the exact type of release I vow to never attend.

If I run across a bottle in PDX, hooray for me.

Got tired of reading all the back and forth.
As a regular guy who lives far North but comes into Seattle for work, when and where could I pick up a bottle to share with my wife?
We were at the Sounders with the kids on Saturday and I was all excited to swing by Fremont and grab a bottle on the way home. Good thing I checked twitter first. I was blown away that bottles were sold out in 2 hours. Whiskey tango foxtrot.
It used to be fun and exciting to stop by Fremont and grab stuff on release day... Hope this isn't a sign of changing times.

Did a Twitter search to see if stores got any yet. Bottle up for auction on another site. Starting bid $90 or buy it now for $120. Already had a bid for $90.

    That's insane.

Keep an eye peeled at your regular stops that carry a lot of Fremont regular brews. Welcome to Washingnois.

And that's me. I won't do it. And for that, I'm going to miss out on some bottles of beers like Rusty Nail, unless I find it in distribution. That's a choice that I make for myself. But with that said, I don't stress about it because there's going to be another great beer released soon. There's lots of great beer to be had without lines and madness. I'm really glad that I don't suffer from FOMO.

And to be clear, it's not so much the hoarding behavior --- using mules, etc. --- that most set me off earlier, but the really poor community behavior of coming on this forum to gloat about the hoarding. "I hate rude behavior in a man. I won't tolerate it."
