Aw maybe you're just reading too much into it. I don't know about the Pokemon analogy. I had to Google it. To me a kindred spirit is someone who likes the best craft beer has to offer and is willing to invest some time now and then. This from someone old enough to have endured the after prohibition period when BMC was all there was. Give me some slack please. Still looking forward to meeting you next time in Bellingham. Any friend of Terry's is a friend of mine.

No, I just think we have differing opinions of who makes up the line. I'm sure there are plenty of cool people like you, but there are also the muling, hoarding, ignore the brewery unless they make something rare folks ... and those are the people I don't want to stand in line with. By standing in line for that stuff, and I'm honestly pretty much over buying in bottled form anymore, I'm advocating those kinds of releases and behaviors with my time and money. I don't like the game so I just choose not to play.

The things I like the best about the beer scene have nothing to do with those kinds of releases. That's just me. Like I said, you and I have two different perspectives, and that's cool with me. If you have a good time at releases like that you don't owe me or anyone else an explanation. Sorry if what I wrote earlier came off as a challenge or a knock on you, I definitely didn't mean it that way. I'll buy the first round if we get a chance to share a brew.

I had friends that drove to around a dozen Seattle spots trying to get a bottle (after it being conformed the places had some), only to miss it by minutes over and over. So it kinda sucks that it's sitting on shelves in OR right now...

Sold out when I went to Market of Choice in West Linn a couple of minutes ago and apparently Terwilliger never got any

Wife picked up a bottle at Nectar in Spokane, he came back with a case apparently and she bought within two hours of him letting people know on facebook, got the second to last. Also for those in Spokompton, Nectar and Beerocracy are going to have it on tap next week. Beerocracy says as soon as their current keg of 120 minute blows it goes up.

I think you're mistaken. It's not on shelves here.

Certainly seems much easier to acquire in Portland distro.

It pretty much was out at all places in Portland within 2 hours. Most places within 30min. West Linn is to Portland, as Maple Valley is to Seattle.

This. Fremont mitigated the issue this time by having Rusty on tap the same day, but an approach like this might be the best solution. If we agree that any sort of limited bottle release will inevitably descend into hype/lines/mules/etc., this would serve to still make the beer available, on a semi-regular basis, for people who want to actually drink it rather than drop it into the secondary market via trade or resell. Hair of the Dog does this, and HM has started too, seems to be working well. Fremont certainly has a sizable library of older barrel aged bottles, not sure what their level of interest would be...

How many times do friends from out or town (or people posting on this board) ask how to find BBomb or the like out of season. It would be cool to send them to the brewery and know they could at least taste it.

This. In West Linn, I think arch bridge blew through their case pretty quickly. People expected them to get a case, so they went there to get bottles. I don't think most folks expected the WL MoC to get any bottles, which is why I assume it lasted as long as it did. Once people learned they had bottles still (and with no purchase restrictions), they quickly ran out.

Don't think so. It's flying off the shelves here also. Tex mentioned earlier that Washington was getting the most of it.

Thanks for the info. I've yet to stop by Nektar (Kendall Yards?). I've only been to Beerocracy once but really liked it. Hopefully that 120 Min keg holds out until Wednesday, probably the first time I'll be able to make it up there!

I'm confident they won't be languishing on those shelves for long.

I never thought a quote from The Wire would be applicable to the NW beer scene, but, sadly, it would seem it is.

Nectar is great, I definitely recommend trying it there just so you have an excuse to check it out. The view of downtown from the patio is incredible.
