Not that I'll miss Black Sun, but I did enjoy the BA Black Sun that was sometimes available in the Brewpub. Seems like they still might be making that.

Rye Da Tiger To Be Our December Release

One of the best parts of the holidays is getting surprised with welcome news. This year our holiday surprise is the December release of Rye Da’ Tiger due to the overwhelming support it got when we first brewed it. From this year on, the “Tiger” will replace Black Sun Stout as the December release. This, however, does not mean that Black Sun is gone. We will continue to brew it periodically so it will be available at different times throughout the year for all of us that love it.
As always thank you for your continued support of Three Floyds and craft beer. Cheers, and happy holidays,
    FFF

Excellent news! I was never a huge fan of Black Sun Stout (or Irish-style stouts in general) and am overjoyed that I will get to drink Rye da Tiger. Thank you FFF!

I cannot wait to get my hands on some. Alas, I never got to try Black Sun. Thank you FFF for keeping them both in your salvo!

Great beer, I think I like it better than Dreadnaught or Arctic Panzer, glad to hear it's replacing Black Sun too, which is meh.

Am I the only one who didn't care for Rye Da Tiger? Rye Da Lightening, now that was an awesome beer.

Nope, feel the exact same way. Tiger was fine, but I'd pick plenty of other beers over it. Lightning was completely awesome though.

Did we ever find out the ABV on it? Delicious, potent beer.

haven't had rye da tiger, but i'm not really crying any tears over the loss of black sun.

i think brian boru is my favourite fff seasonal. cheap, delicious, and underrated.

Am I'm the only one who will miss Black Sun? I was really looking forward to it this December. It was my first FFF beer.

Honestly, I've gotten used to Black Sun Stout in December every year. It's one of the great 3F brews that isn't gone after 3 days here where I'm at, and it's a very unique stout. Really the only other quality Irish Dry Stout I've ever had was Great Lakes(Ohio)'s wolfhound stout which has remarkably a lot less abv at 4.8%. Unfortunately wolfhound isn't available in bottle distribution and now it looks like Black Sun won't be a set thing like it has been. I guess the good news for black sun fans like myself is the comment of it doesn't mean black sun is gone and will still be released at different times. Maybe like Calumet Queen? I didn't pay attention 2-3-4 years ago, but this is the first time I've seen Calumet Queen here. I just hope these, "when I feel like releasing it" releases from FFF will be more frequent so I can enjoy a black sun from time to time. Looking forward to da tiger tho. It seems to be a good brew. Just don't write off Black Sun, FFF... Please continue to make it available to those who are used to it

We asked one of the servers at the brewpub last night and he said between 8-8.5%.

With this move, seems like FFF is listening to its fans.

You weren't missing much. But hey, you can drive up to Munster and try the imperial version, Blot Out The Sun.
