    Hello.

A huge thank you to anyone who can point my to a decent (...or "any") rye IPAs distributed in WI. Madison area specifically. Love this style and my mainstays Road Warrior and Hop Rod Rye are MIA or seasonal. was lucky enough to find some Flying Sailor from Blackrocks recently and that was fantastic. Thanks

Angry Minnow (Hayward, WI) does a decent one. It's called Rye IPA. Not the most creative name, but decent beer. I don't know if their beer gets to the southern half of the state or not. It's all over the place up here. Flying sailor is phemomenal, though. I miss living a block away from Blackrocks. Marquette is wonderful.

I'm a huge rye fan & love rye IPAs. That said, a lot of the decent ones are seasonals. I've been patiently waiting for a year-round example of the style I can buy consistently in MN, & no luck...for the past ten years.

Opinions are opinions, but I'd avoid 5th Element like the plague. The bottle I had earlier this year was straight foul, & with a 3.41/5.00 on the scale, well, there are better alternatives.

The Angry Minnow Rye IPA is solid if not spectacular, but certainly worth trying.

If you ever see Great Lakes Rye of the Tiger, jump on it. It's a seasonal beer, but one of, if not the, best example. Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye is another seasonal that is very good. Bear Republic Hot Rod Rye is excellent, & might be easier to find. Founders Red Rye isn't quite IPA enough for me, but worth consideration. Bell's Golden Rye, New Holland RyePA Hatter, I'm sure there are others I'm missing.

Keep your eyes open! I'm always on the lookout for new or great rye beers. They're not the easiest style to find, but it's well worth the search.

Rye of the Tiger was great, but it is no longer around. It has been a couple years...bummer.

Absolutely loved Rye of the Tiger. Stockpiled a few sixers, but yeah, haven't seen it in years. Did hear from Bear Republic that HRR was now a late summer seasonal... So something to look forward to I suppose. And I agree sadly about 1 Barrel. Love the place, but have had a few iffy bottles. I'll definitely keep an eye out for Angry Minnow next time I'm "up North". Thanks, all. Cheers
